What a super find. We stayed locally for a week and dined here twice, once on a Sunday for the roast which was so good we then booked back in for Pie & a Pint night on the Wednesday eve. The food on both occasions was first class. A friendly team will give you a very warm welcome and look after you. Only small bar area so make sure you book in if you have dogs because they aren’t allowed in the restaurant. This is a gem of a local pub.

Myself and a couple of members of my family went for a lunchtime meal yesterday. The garlic mushroom starter tasted very nice, and was quite filling. Two of us had the ribeye steak, with peppercorn sauce and chips which was nice and the other family member had the chicken and black pudding pie which again was nice. However a negative which we we all agreed on was the amount and contents of the side salad, (green leaves of some description) wasn't to anyone's liking and the twist of orange was off putting, which I had to put on a side plate. Some good old iceberg lettuce is just as good !.Over all a nice meal in a lovely pub.

Ideal country pub with cosy chairs around a warm fire. Looks like it would be nice in the summer too with outdoor seating looking out at the stunning scenery.

Very enjoyable visit. The draught beers on offer were excellent.Although we only had a lunchtime ciabatta to eat they were freshly prepared, well presented and tasted delicious.Lovely atmosphere too and surprisingly busy for a Monday lunchtime out in the countryside.Would recommend to all

Sunday roast dinner was disappointing, the whole thing felt like it wasn't freshly cooked, if you told me it was microwaved I'd believe you as preposterous as that sounds for a pub sunday roast.

New year's day dinner was lovely as always. Mr J had double game off thr specials board which he throughly enjoyed. Homemade faggots for me, always a pleaser and the Mr J Jnr was stuffed after his 2 course meal. Always a warm welcome abd gorgeous food.

Been looking forward to this all month an evening with colleagues to celebrate the year we had as always the company was good, laughing and joking that was the best part and that's where it ended. We paid a lot of money for food we could not consume as it was still frozen quiche water dripping out the chicken for me the evening was spoilt by this having to leave not eating anything for that day and paying out more money to have a home delivery of food that I cout actually consume. First and the last time I'll ever be visiting the horseshoe.

Wonderful old pub, unable to give higher mark for atmosphere as we are in the dining area which isn't really atmospheric. Food was lovely & service was fine. Particularly good desserts with generous portions.

We found this beautiful Inn while on holiday on the canal. The staff were so welcoming and the food was delicious! They made us feel so welcome and made our dog feel at home too! The fire kept us cosy. Can’t recommend this place enough. Thank you! Rascal loved the blanket you provided and the treats! Will definitely be back next year!

As family of four, we stopped by here at the end of a day in the hills. We just googled "nearby restaurants" and this one popped up. We did not book, turning up at around six o'clock starving hungry, and there was some space to park the car. The interior was charming and traditional, warm and nicely lit with some candles and classic pub tables and seating. No booming music or rowdy clientele. We were quickly accomodated and sat down by a very polite and attentive waiter and given the menu. The starters and mains covered some really interesting choices, nothing too weird, but way better than normal "pub grub". It was a compact menu which for me is always a very good sign, but as family with a vegetarian, a fussy 12 year old and 6ft 2 teen who could eat a horse, we all had a hard time choosing from the excellent options. I went for confit duck in a cherry sauce, which was absolutely divine. My son had a homemade curry with chips and rice which he wolfed down (and proper filled him up), and my wife had a broccoli soup which she said was delicious. We managed some deserts too, even though we were stuffed after the main course. The choice of deserts was good, with classics such as bread and butter pudding and treacle tart with custard and a slice of cheesecake about half the size of a house brick. We all had some drinks (with some nice ale and IPA on tap) and the whole thing was a good chunk less than £100 for a family of four which felt more than reasonable! The waiting staff were attentive, smiling and polite and the owner was happy to chat after our meal too. We we had a lovely time and left very satisfied. This place is a real gem, if you are in the area it is worth a stop.Vegetarian options: A few tasty vegetarian options.Parking: There were a decent number of parking slots just opposite the pub.Kid-friendliness: Our 12 year old and 14 year old were both made to feel welcome, and there were kids menu options too.

What a find! We were struggling to find somewhere open to eat on a Monday evening and stumbled across the Horseshoe Inn. Lovely hearty and delicious mains and desserts and lovely atmosphere. Friendly and attentive staff. Log fire. Reasonably priced and would definitely visit again.
