Amici D’Italia Pontypool

This restaurant is so wonderful and the food so good, that we will likely be going at least once a week for the rest of our lives.

Truly everything is so delicious and the owner and staff are amazing. There’s a great selection, and even so we now can’t go anywhere else for Sunday roast. Cooked to perfection and so delicious.

The decor, ambience, everything is just fabulous.

The Horseshoe Inn & Country Kitchen

We visited around 2.15pm on a Wednesday and we were the only customers at that time. The guy behind the bar was welcoming and friendly and served us each a pint of very good Butty Bach. I asked if they were still serving food and was told that the kitchen was closed but he'd check with the chef. This turned out to be a great decision as the chef was very happy to offer whatever was on the menu. We both ordered the leek and potato soup, which was very good, and I had the rainbow trout while my partner had the steak sandwich and chips; both very good indeed. As it was a lovely sunny afternoon we sat at an outside table admiring the spectacular views across the valley. We will definitely be going back for more of the same.

Harvester Pontypool

Hands down the best Indian restaurant around! The food is always fresh and packed with flavor, and they don’t use any processed meats. Honestly, their chips alone are worth the visit—they’re amazing!

Market Square Coffee House

Very welcoming and lovely service. Great selection of home made cake. Had cappuccino and huge piece of delicious carrot cake. Sat outside & watched the world go by!

Lee's Kitchen

I’ve been enjoying Lee’s Kitchen for the past 18 months, and every single time, the food has been consistently excellent. The portions are generous, the service is friendly, and the food is always ready on time. The prices are fair, and I don’t mind traveling from Cwmbran to Pontypool just to get their food. Highly recommend

Porky's Pizzeria

Absolutely delicious pizza and sides, beats dominos hands down for a fraction of the price. This was my first time ordering and although it took a long time to come, it arrived piping hot and they explained how busy they were keeping me updated. Can’t wait to try again

Rehmat Spice

The only place I order from and the only place my 5 year old will eat curries from. Nowhere else does saag paneer the way i like it. Always good portions and quality

Family Grill House

Had a bad experience a week ago with order not turning up but owner messaged me and apologized directly and offered us 40%off next order to try them again and I was impressed this time. Bit of a hiccup with ordering on phone at start with order and address being wrong but they phoned me to make sure it was right and we corrected it. Food arrived quickly and was very tasty. Glad we gave u a 2nd chance and thankyou for the apology.

Garlic Authentic Indian and Bangladeshi Takeaway

Our food arrived on time and was still hot throughout. The food was lovely. I called the restaurant as we have allergies in our household and they could not have been more helpful. Will definitely order again.

What an absolute privilege and an honour to be the first experienced reviewer to comment upon this place. I hope it brings forward some business benefits particularly when the McDonald’s nearby has been criticised so heavily.\nBecause my older wife wasn’t watching, I was able to have a bacon roll , but this doesn’t do it justice.\nThe lovely young lady serving gave me a pile of pork slices that would justify positioning as a high-rise feature on an ordnance survey map .\nShe then very kindly also provided extra napkins clear acknowledging that I would make a terrible mess as I ate it.\nI didn’t make a mess as it happened, but the napkins will be stored in the car as my wife uses them to wipe off excess lipstick on the occasion she leaves the house.\nHappy spring day and thank you.

The menu leaves you absolutely spoilt for choices, and every item on there is outstanding quality. The lovely staff behind the counter are just impeccable. Denises fish bar is my go to takeaway destination!

My daughter had a terrible experience at the Heritage Centre yesterday, 3 adults and 1 young toddler, the staff got the order wrong, delivered one meal 30 minutes after the first, staff were not interested and no apology. They did eventually get an £8 refund from a £60 spend Not good enough, you need to up your service, they had roast which was microwaved so chicken was hard and inedible. Will never go back for a cooked dinner although the cake looked good

Beijing House

This is the absolute best Chinese around. We stopped having Chinese for a while as we couldn't find a nice one in cwmbran, so we tried this one in new inn.
I am so over the moon that you do the special fried rice with the bbq sauce. Been looking everywhere for it for years. This is restaurant quality food. Absolutely outstanding!

“Generous portions and a standout garlic dish, but overall too salty to hit 5 stars.”

Decent quality Chinese, but not quite 5 stars for me.

For context, this was a Friday evening order — food arrived early, hot, and the delivery driver was friendly and polite.

Seaweed (2/5): Too salty, and not balanced enough with sweetness. I know it’s meant to be salty, but this felt more like “ocean” than “snack.”

Curried Spare Ribs (3/5): Meaty and tender ribs, but not marinated — just their standard curry sauce poured over. A bit heavy on the salt again. Next time I’d try them with sweet & sour sauce instead.

House Special in Spicy Garlic Sauce (5/5): The star of the meal. Prawns, chicken, beef — all cooked well and good quality. Vegetables were perfectly done, and the sauce had just the right balance of garlic and spice.

Singapore Fried Rice (3/5): Good consistency in the rice, but again on the salty side. Not as spicy as I’d expect for a Singapore fried rice.

Prawn Crackers (3/5): Fine, but nothing special — not fishy enough, and again a touch too salty.

Istanbul Kebabs & Pizza House

I’ve been coming to this kebab shop for around 17 years now and honestly, it never disappoints. The food just tastes incredible every single time. The house recipe chilli sauce is on another level — I’ve tried a lot of places, but nothing even comes close to this one. It’s got the perfect balance of heat and flavour, and it just makes the whole kebab.
The kebab meat is always spot on too. It’s properly cooked, juicy, and never burnt or dry like you sometimes get elsewhere. You can tell they actually care about what they’re serving rather than just rushing orders out.
What really makes the place stand out though is the staff. They’re always friendly, easy to talk to, and genuinely welcoming. If there’s ever been a small issue, they sort it out straight away without any fuss, which says a lot about how they run the place.
It’s rare to find somewhere that consistently gets both the food and the service right, but this place absolutely does. Definitely my go-to kebab shop.

Dinos Kebab

This establishment deserves the highest rating for many reasons: exceptional speed, delicious food, genuine kindness, strong interpersonal skills, remarkable adaptability, and impressive creativity. Every time I arrive, I am greeted as though I am family. As I wait, I notice that they extend this same warmth and care to every customer who walks through the door—demonstrating their sincere dedication to excellent customer service.

This is the only place where I can enjoy a meal without any discomfort; I do not experience stomach pain, heaviness, or drowsiness afterward. The portions are generous and the value is outstanding. I could not fully express the depth of my gratitude and satisfaction, even if I tried.

I hope this place remains open permanently and continues to grow, so its success can expand even further. Thank you, Dino’s, for never failing to impress.

This is probably the best Chinese takeaway I've ever been to. The staff was nice and the food was delicious ?. I ordered salt and pepper fries and it was so good I can't explain it! The best, I recommend this Chinese takeaway

In most places, for just two (2) people, it will cost between £40-£50+, we went to Choice last night ?, and for two (2) people, the Total came to £37.20!!
I do reccommend Choice for a good meal.

New Yummies

Absolutely devastated they are shut for the month. I've tried every other takeaway around Pontypool and Blaenavon and none of them do a kebab like yummies. They are all dry with hardly any salad or sauce. Can't wait for yummies to open back up after their holiday to have a proper kebab. Enjoy your holidays yummies

We have just had our first meal here as a takeaway OMG IT WAS AMAZING. I had lamb madras it was perfect and loads of tender meat. My wife had chicken tikka tamarind chef special wow. See you soon

What a vibe, as a clock enthusiast I was in my element. Took me back in ‘time’ to when I was a little girl visiting my nan. The decor was timeless, as a postie my favourite clock is in a small cabinet bottom shelf to the right, you will know which one I’m talking about ?

Brilliant fish and chips. Cheaper than most. Had it last night, 8 fish bites, 2 large chips, curry etc. Fish bites are huge for the price. Super delicious. Awesome food.

The Fli is still one of the best live music venues in South Wales. Whatever your taste in music, the chances are that you'll get to hear it performed here.The staff are extremely friendly and welcoming and always take the time to chat with customers.

Lovely place to get fish and chips. Popped there as we arrived to Wales for our camping trip. The staff was lovely, very friendly and we even got some tips for our trip, mini information centrum ?.

Had en excellent meal here. Not much to look at from the outside, interior was typical for an Indian restaurant, and was very quiet when we went (6:15 on a Sunday). The food quality was excellent, very fresh all round and they varied my main to my taste. Main portion sizes were large, rice and naan sizes medium. Definitely recommend.

Moved here about a year ago and omg never going else where best food you can ever taste always pipping hot when it arrives very friendly staff and delivery drivers i eat from here at least once a fortnight. You won't be disappointed!

Tesco Cafe

I had an all day breakfast and my wife the Halloumi burger and chips. Reassuring wait for the food, so cooked fresh. My wife loved the fries and said the burger was delicious. My breakfast was a good size, bonus of good quality sausages, rather than the production line cheapies that you normally get in such places. Definitely coming again for Saturday lunch before shopping in the very good, large, well-stocked supermarket.
