The staff were lovely and friendly but the food was a bit of a let down. We ordered a fish and chips, scampi and chips and chicken and mushroom pie and nothing tasted that great, it was all a bit bland. The vinegar was also very watered down and tasted of nothing. Even though the staff were nice about everything and refunded a cheese rissole, the experience wasn't great and I wouldn't visit again.Reply:Google reviews is hardly a social media, it's a place to write about experiences which is exactly what I did. I put my honest opinion on here because I think it's important for people who want to visit to know what other experiences are like.We came to your shop because it had good reviews and were disappointed that it didn't match up to them. I absolutely did not get a kick out of putting up a review, as you'll see, I put 5 stars for service because I appreciate that the service was indeed good, just that the food wasn't. I have now changed the stars down to 2, and the overall stars down to 1 because I don't appreciate your attitude to my very honest and fair review. The whole point of Google reviews is to review what restaurants are like, I honestly don't know what you expected. My review mentioned all the good things about the restaurant e.g. the friendly staff and the speedy refund of the rissole so I don't understand why you are being so passive aggressive with your reply.Than you for your invitation to come back but you have just cemented my decision to not return.

The food is very nice can't complain. The only complaint I do have is the price, one jumbo sausage and chips twice came to a hefty £18.00.

Fantastic local chippie with unlimited chips and the best fish for miles. Paying a bit extra is well worth it for the quality of the food. Keep up the amazing standards.

We visited to pick up a takeaway, but it was quite cold outside, so decided to eat in. Piping hot battered fish, chips and Irish curry sauce, washed down with a dandelion and burdock. Look forward to our next visit.

Gone downhill fast. A once award-winning establishment 'Best Fish and Chips' for takeaways and restaurants but lately their standards both on quality and cost have sadly disappeared. Costs I know have rocketed but standards should have been maintained. It saddens me to write this review as it was truly outstanding. Let's hope the good times return.
