We used to visit the Huntsman for special occasions and decided to book it for our Christmas dinner on Christmas Eve as we have great memories of the place. What a disappointment. While the food was good, the service was dreadful. Lots of younger staff who weren’t interested and stood around avoiding eye contact while we cleared our own plates. Dinner plates were still in place on the table when they took the dessert order and then tried to serve it, so they had to take dessert back and clear the table. No drinks orders taken. And unfortunately it was dirty with horribly sticky tables and a real shabby feel to the whole place. A real shame as our family has many lovely memories of visiting to mark birthdays and special occasions over the years, but it feels stuck in a time warp (not in a good way - more a haven’t bothered to spend any money on the place way). While I understand they have a particular look and atmosphere to maintain, I think they do need to invest in the decor, cutlery, carpets etc as it all makes for a very cheap feeling environment. Won’t be visiting again.

The starters, roast meat and desserts were excellent but it was let down by everything else. Vegetables (only sprouts & carrots) were overcooked, vegetarian option (only vegi sausages) had been preordered but forgot, waitress just wanted us out as quickly as possible.

First time experience of the Huntsman Carvery. Impressed doesn't even begin to cover it, reminded me of going out for a Carvery back in the 80s with my grandparents. 3 courses of traditional food. The Carvery itself, outstanding. As a first time, thought I should try all the meats to make sure how good it really was. Normally Beef is over done or so rare the connective tissues and fats haven't started to break down. This Beef was perfect, cut like butter. The Chef had even done some belly pork as an extra which was beautiful melt in the mouth. They also had Turkey and gammon, both of which cooked perfectly. The portion size of the meats you got given was huge. Even the Texan Americans would be impressed with size of it.Homemade sausages, to go along with the Yorkshire puddings, not greasy or swimming in excess fat like some places. Will be going back in the future, once I feel the need to eat my body weight in meat again.

Not been here for years but we were really looking forward to going for a Christmas family gathering, most of our party had to queue outside so our meal was held up. There was not enough bread rolls, our waiter said they had run out! The meat was beautiful but we were very disappointed with the lack of vegetables only cabbage and carrots. Desserts were lovely and nice choices. After our meal we like to stay for a chat & they came and opened the door to let in the cold air in to force us to leave. As we left there were big queues waiting to come in but when booking there was no mention of a time limit on our table. In all enjoyed it but definitely room for improvement & better customer service

Just been for our 3rd visit. We liked it before but tonight was even better. Great staff and service. Polite attentive and really made us feel welcome. Food was great as always and as meat lovers there was more than enough. It's definitely a place to visit time and time again.

This was recommended to me by a trusted friend, well I used to trust them...Uninterested waitress, had to ask repeatedly for a new drink, or a missed starter/dessert.The carvery, I was told, was something to be excited about, however, usual meat choice, with veg options of mash, peas and carrots, roast potatoes and cabbage ? - none of it was great, average at best...All in, not recommended, plus the pub smells like musty old feet, I won't be revisiting.

The food here is amazing, what makes it so special is how passionate and proud the chef is. The meats are cooked low and slow so they fall apart when you eat them, and they are very generous with portions of meat - unlike most places. There is a small selection of veg, usually 2 options, but that’s plenty when you have so much meat. The chef will tell you all about the food and how it’s cooked, and will encourage you to go up for seconds if you’d like to - although we’ve never managed to do that! The food is delicious, you will leave the Huntsman absolutely stuffed :)

Just the best Carvery in Warwickshire. Honestly, you just can’t go wrong with the food here. Everything is delicious. Whilst the price may seem a bit high for ‘just a carvery’, it’s actually three courses (we had to get our starters to go as we knew we wouldn’t be able to manage all three courses in one go) and, if you don’t move your plate on from the meats section, it’ll just keep coming. The meat selection is great and tasty, the veg is plentiful and tasty and the staff are just lovely too. I can definitely recommend the devils food cake and I can highly recommend the huntsman overall.

Great food. Shame the takeaway service is poor.why have a system that clearly doesn’t work. A response would be good or an answered phone call rather than letting people wait a whole day. And then tell them there are no

Not great. Done it. Once is enough. meat was mostly ok, but my son had 50% fat on his 3 large slices of beef. He got lower half of joint which was poor. So most of his was waste. Lager was flat. Table all sticky, like fresh varnish feel. Seating not comfortable. Pork offering wasn't there so no idea why Sunday was extra money as only 3 offerings same as Saturday. Meant to be 4. Except gammon instead of pork. You get lots of food but I guess hit, miss on quality. Some like fat. We certainly don't. Pudding nice. Stater OK.

Food was good, but nothing to really write home about. The whole meal would have been much more enjoyable if the ‘supervisor’ hadn’t been so snotty and patronising. Unfortunately our meal out was ruined by us being treated like toddlers, and questioned on why we hadn’t finished our dinners. In addition, we were told any left overs were able to be taken home by another member of the team (Josh - who was lovely!), the supervisor came over to tell us we would need to pay £16.95 to take it home as we had been up to get seconds (as advised by other staff as it was the last sitting of the day) because this is what they charge for a takeaway roast. She even told us she felt like our ‘parent’. In the end she handed us a takeaway box and sarcastically said, ‘have it on me!’ Extremely awkward and uncomfortable meal after that point. When you’re spending nearly £200 on a roast for a table of 6, you don’t expect to be questioned on taking leftovers home. Surely they would not want to encourage waste. Baffling!! We won’t be returning.
