Awful. All I wanted was a soft drink as I was a bit early for a meeting near by. I was told I had to stand in the lunch queue for people waiting to be seated which was about 10 people long. After 10 minutes in the queue I gave up. Seriously? Needs some organisation and more bar staff. Poor.

We’re we’re to late for breakfast so ordered a mixed grill, the chicken was utterly inedible, when I raised this with the waiter, he said ‘ye we get lots of complaints about it’ he then shrugged and walked off. Well if it is complained about so much, why on earth is it still being purchased??? And why get staff to ask if everything is ok, if, when a complaint is raised, they do absolutely nothing about it!?!
Not so much a Hungry Horse more a Peckish Donkey. Food was well cooked, but the portions were small and the super specials are a joke! No where near special or value for money! I had the tandoori chicken sizzler and the portion was tiny. I was left hungry, so thought I'd have the pudding thats included with the super special, sadly not all puddings are included. So had to pay for the ultimate big candy mania that sadly had no cockie dough which also came in a large pasta bowl and not a sundae glass ? Waiting staff were pleasant and worked hard but bar man who served us just looked like he couldn't be bothered and didn't want to be there! All in all food quality was good, just don't expect value for money! PS orange squash is over £2 a glass ?

?Christmas Dinner here was great! ? A nice Christmas decorated atmosphere, HUGE portions of well cooked food, pleasant service and all at very reasonable prices! Also not exceptionally busy for this time of the year, so chances are high that you can make a reservation without needing to book super early.

Went out for birthday meal had two mixed grill and both had to be returned because gammon was raw. When returned chicken looked boiled and tasted horrid, eggs weren’t cooked properly and the steak a dog would find hard to chew. I had lasagne, the top was rock hard, black and inedible, the salad was rotting. Hardly anything inside meat wise. No cutlery and had to wait for some to arrive and no napkins, even though hungry horse empty! No-one approached us through-out the meal knowing that meals had been replaced. The following day myself, husband and son have all been ill with sickness and diorreah for 4-5 days which has ruined our Christmas. I’m not surprised that the local pubs in the area were packed and yet Royal horse empty…..everyone must of known how bad the food was….shame we didn’t ! We have been in lots of times before but not in the last 6months and the manager was always very attentive and the place was always packed. I’m told new management have taken over but obviously the standards have dropped and seamed like no one was interested or cared about customers, standards or products sold! Such a shame.
