Booked a table for 10 for a family meal following my Mother's funeral. Some of the chairs were grubby and stained so we exchanged them with a nearby table. The waiting staff were poor, getting various items wrong or missing items out and not particularly pleasant. There was also a very 'loud' lady who came over once or twice I believe to ask if everything was OK and mess around with the exit door. We waited quite a long time for our order considering that the restaurant was basically empty. The prices charged here for very basic and unappealing fodder are ridiculous but we had no choice at this point to go someplace else. Considering the occasion, I am of the belief that the staff may have been more engaging and willing to help. All those that we encountered appeared bored, demotivated and uncaring and the 'loud' lady would be better suited in a working men's club. All of us agreed that none of us would visit this place again and we all left completely underwhelmed with both the 'service' and the food quality, taste and presentation. Definitely there is work to be done here.

I never complain unless there is a reason, me and my partner eat out often and like to leave positive reviews for businesses. However, the Beefeater was just absolutely dreadful, child sized portions. Manager walking around shouting other waitresses names. She seemed really hostile and just seemed like a she hated the customers if they had constructive criticism. Atompshere was awful had people sat right next to us, we may as well have dined with them. We wasent greated nicely. We parked out the back and come through the back entrance, we walked to the bar and said that we have a reservation and the manager turned round and said 'nooooooo' in my partners face, he then repeated himself and then we got asked to wait at the front, for her then to come around and repeat over that it isn't an entrance and we come through the wrong door, like, OKAY! it isn't an entrance you didn't have to mention that at all to us and just sit us down (we was confused by this as we had used the back entrance in the past with no issues). I could go into details but why bother. We complained about the meal as the pigs in blankets was like £3.50 a pop and you got 3 teeney tiny Sausages with burnt bacon wrapped around. Manager took them off the bill and also made it very clear that she took off the £1 peppercorn. The other waitresses on the other hand was really pleasent and couldn't apologise enough. It was meant to be a nice Christmas meal out and it was just dire, but as the manager kept saying its isn't there fault it's whitbreads specs and portion sizes! No apology what's so ever. Please avoid, the food reminds me food warmed up in a microwave and also everything is just deep fried to make life easier.

The service to table is poor. 5 in group only Appeared under staffed on waiting. Meal not value for money. Far better value and service at other food establishments. Certainly wont re-visit again. It was a mid afternoon booking.

Honestly not great, over 2 hours for food to all be served, sides were missed then dessert order was taken only to be told it was too late and they were closing so we didn't get them. Portions were small, overall not a great experience.

Absolutely shocking burger - the Baconeater looks nothing like the picture, was not presented well and came as a burger with chips and nothing else? Had to ask for the coleslaw and the sauce never came? If you want a TASTY value burger pop over the road to Maccie Ds half the price, bigger, better by far !!!! Avoid disappointment go else where.

Avoid particularly with young kids food took nearly an hour to come out despite restaurant having hardly any tables. Hardly any staff no thank you when leaving. Kitchen staff standing around talking needs some improvement. Tables not clean

Staff were lovely! I ordered the Roast dinner plenty of Turkey. It could of been hotter! But tasty.. my Friend ordered the Steak she said it was also tasty... But she ordered the Prawns which were a side extra at 4.99Mighty dissapointed as there was 2 lonely prawns on top of her steak!Come on!! 4.99 for 2 prawns? 2.50 a prawn! We expected at least a bowl of them, Definately more than 2 we did question and waitress & she said it was up to the chef!!I will add they were the big prawns not the tiny ones! But even so!! Not worth the money!

We thought it was good food for the price paid. We were served quickly. Good steaks. We will be returning with our newly registered loyalty card.

Potatoes under cooked, seemed the same for everyone at our tables. Rest of food was really good. Waitress was very patient and competent dealing with our large crowd.

Initially the pub seemed nice and quiet with an older clientele. But slowly the experience went down hill. The staff seemed put out and irritated due to my dietary requirements. Giving them the Benifit of the dought I went again.... Itwas worse. The manager has a split personality and changes from being nice to rolling her eyes at customers whilst giving an unbelievable amount of attitude. Both times I had the tomato soup, the first time it had basil and some sort of cream in ( perposly added due to my vegan request). Second time it had just basil and I found some sort of chewy item in there, tasted some what like dried fish. The staff, including the manager seemed unfamiliar and confused with the groupon voucher even though they had a sign at the bar detailing the offers (which was taken down and not replaced when I pointed it out). The manager got extremely arsey and sarcastic when I mentioned having to run the school run after their 35 minute attempt of trying to charge use £50+ pound for food that had already been paid for with the Groupon voucher. The food overall is better than some places but the highlight about this place is the cocktails, when you eventually get them. They seem so short staffed that a 30min wait for cocktails is the norm.Definitely would not return or recommend to anyone.Dietary restrictions: Not very accommodating and seem extremely irritated.Vegan menu extremely limited.

I wish I had read the reviews before I had booked. This used to be a lovely venue serving a varied menu with excellent service but that was before Beefeater decided to become a "steak house". As my mum lives locally and this used to be a favourite venue of my parents when my dad was alive I thought it would be a nice tea time treat. The car park was very full but it became apparent this must be Premier Inn guests. Disabled bays are at the front near the main entrance however if you do not know they are there you would never find them due to very poor marking and lighting. It actually feels hazardous when parking and then alighting a wheelchair user. We arrived at 5:15 and the place was pretty empty. The manageress and a member of staff were chatting by the pass while we stood waiting to be seated, after a few minutes she gave us her attention. Where we sat there was a pile of crumbs on the floor around the table but as my mum cannot see well I decided to not mention this. The waitress who served us was cheerful and pleasant and took our drinks order. The menu is very limited in choice if you don't want a steak even for my mum who is a meat eater. More limited if you are pescatarian of vegetarian and abhor fake meat. The waitress came to take our order and apologised for the delay in our drinks coming due to my ordering bellini and the need to open something (not sure if it was the peach puree or the fizz). My mum ordered the breaded mushrooms to start and the gammon with egg and pineapple served with chips and peas for her main. I ordered the calamari to start and the highlighted prawn and vegetable skewer which comes with salad, flatbread and fries. We also ordered a side of onion rings to share. Our starters came soon enough. Presentation on the mushrooms sadly lacking. a pile of breaded mushrooms on a plate and a dip. No garnish, nothing. However mushrooms were hot and my mum enjoyed them. The calamari however was as tough as old boots and nothing like calamari you would have had anywhere else. This should be a succculent dish served with an aioli but instead is served with chillies both on the calamari and in the sauce. I ate it but wouldn't have it again. We then waited an age for our mains. We were at a table at the front near the kitchen. I saw our onion rings sitting on the pass for a while, I also saw my prawn skewer being plated on the pass. The fascinating thing is the kitchen staff (no chef present, these are all guys who know how to fry food and assemble things) spent more time looking at the screens they were reading the orders from than actually looking at the food. There was no co-ordination or urgency seen like you would expect in a kitchen. Sadly many plates seemed to sit on the pass for ages waiting for service. I work in IT and appreciate the digital age however with no system to tell a member of waiting staff when food is ready there is a clear disconnect in service. I actually watched staff including the manageress paying more attention to polishing cutlery while food sat on the pass waiting to be served. My mum's food was obviously cooked after mine and once done we were served. I took one bite out of a prawn that was luke warm and advised the waitress my food wasn't hot and the onion rings had sat on the pass for 15 minutes. She took both plates away. They were back in minutes. I can only assume the onion rings were refried to warm the up and as for the skewer the prawn I had bitten had been replaced but it was no warmer. I gave in and ate it. The prawns looked lovely like they should have been juicy and succulent however they were also as tough as old boots. The warmest thing on the plate was the chips. The flatbread was like cardboard. The best thing on the plate was the salad. My mum's gammon was thick and overcooked and also tough. I struggled to find the waitress to pay the bill. I asked both a passing waitress and the manageress as they walked past and clearly neither heard me. Eventually I walked up to the till. Our waitress finally brought the bill. When

My daughter & I had a really lovely time. Alison, our waitress was very friendly & helpful, welcoming too. We have to say, the manageress there & the other waitress we spoke to & served us at times, were very friendly & welcoming. The food was exceptional, we had the festive menu, well worth having. All in all, a great Beefeater to go to if up this way. We live in Kent & would definitely visit The Plough again when we're up this way again.... definitely ☺️
