Finally got to visit this interesting restaurant.We have watched Stu Deeley's,progress following MasterChef.He was in the kitchen when we visited and popped out to say hi.Smoke's setting is quirky,with a friendly atmosphere.Staff were excellent.Good to see young staff being developed who were local.We sat at the chefs table,which added interest.We had the Sunday Roast,set price 65£.The food, of course delicious and beautifully prepared and presented.One slight negative,an extra,strip of mackerel and beef,would have been welcome.Veg's,etc are all delicious.Wine good selection.Desserts were delicious!Certainly worth a visit if you're visiting the area.Parking: Parking within 100 meters of the restaurant door.

I have eaten here several times over the last 6 months and every visit has been GREAT!!! The guys are super friendly, the service super and the food is really wonderful. They are not licenced for alcohol but there is a Tescos only 70 metres away and they sell cold beer and wines.The food is perhaps the best Indian I have ever tasted in the UK and the value for money is also excellent, I paid 45 pounds for 2 of us last visit (Feb 2024). GREAT food and folks and value.

My partner and I came here for lunch on Easter Sunday. We booked through the website.The restaurant is located right in the centre of Solihull. Unfortunately, there is no parking.We opted to sit at the counter so we could watch the "theatre of food" as per the slogan above the door.We had the three course lunch. To fire our tastebuds off, the chef presented us with a delicious onion cracker with Old Winchester, which is a cheese we had not heard off before. I then had the crab coronation, and my partner went for the salmon. I did order a nice glass of white wine to go with my crab, but it was so tasty, I totally forgot to drink the wine with it, ha ha.We then tried some bread and homemade butter. Which was nice. Standard practice in most fine dining establishments now, I think.I then had the lobster and scallop wrapped in cod. My partner had roast beef. Both dishes were well presented and were cooked to perfection. The Yorkshire pudding was stuffed with beef too.I went for the cheese board after, not necessarily for the cheese though, as I have never tried date cake before. I really liked the cake, although I thought the cheese wasn't strong enough to punch through the strong flavour of the dates. I really enjoyed it.We both opted for the chocolate dessert. It looked nice, but I found it too much. Very chocolatey and very sweet. It was like an oreo covered in Nutella.We were both impressed with the kitchen. It was well lit and very clean. We enjoyed watching the chefs at work, although I would hardly call it a "theatre of food". You don't really see much. The chefs back blocks the view of the food prep. If you are short in stature, you will not be able to see over the top of the counter. I am 5ft 10 and I could barely see.The chefs and waitress were very talkative and friendly. We loved the decor and the lighting. I was happy with the reasonable price. We are definitely looking forward to returning to try their dinner menu.

The Olton chippi

The Olton Chippy is obviously a popular take away as plenty of customers on a Sunday evening. All food appears to be cooked to order so there was a wait but staff worked flat out trying to accommodate hungry customers. I ordered two battered sausages & small chips which was plenty for two adults!

This unassuming-looking little corner cafe is truly a gem on Knowle High Street. The lovely ladies always greet us with a friendly smile and make us feel so welcome. My top recommendation is the New York deli but all the sarnies we’ve tried so far have been amazing. Customer service at its finest and the freshest, tastiest sandwiches I’ve had in many a year!
