Tucked away in the countryside is the Halfmoon in Kirdford a smart and friendly Pub serving some really standout plates of food.The pub itself is a polished affair neat and tidy…it’s not the biggest pub so booking is very advisable…in the summer they have a large garden which I’m sure gets busy.They stock the usual range of smart lagers and a couple of real ales.The wine list had a great range of wines by the glass which was great as we had to drive.The menu is quite small but with a selection of dishes that we found quite hard to choose as we wanted to try everything.They hold two AA rosettes which is very well deserved as the food comming out of the kitchen is exciting and interesting..there is no burger or pie pub fair.The standout dishes we had was the ibericho pork loin cooked perfectly with crispy squid and tandoori cauliflower, cashew korma sauce.Will definitely be going back.

Fabulous from start to finish. A group of friends had our annual Christmas gathering at The Half Moon and it was simply brilliant. We had a set Christmas menu which on paper looked dull but it was far from it. The food was delicious. I opted for the Turkey (which I don’t really like) and I was blown away. Stunning. The waiting staff were attentive and polite and really looked after us all night. Will definitely be back.

We joined some friends for supper at The Half Moon, the food was good but the service was awful, simply rude unfriendly staff , even the chef didn’t want to know us. We won’t be going back, sadly the reputation in the area is of an over priced, pretentious pub, and I don’t think that too far from the truth…
