If you sink in the sofas you'll be there for life, but plenty of sit up and beg tables as well. Pleasant to have independent choice of coffee and food. Resisted the cakes, may have to come back!

We always use this cafe when visiting Chichester but sadly never again . We asked for a pot of tea for two , when it came we noticed the teapot which are enamel was worse than usual , it was completely chipped especially around the spout it was also very heavily stained inside and out .We mentioned it to the staff who apologised but said all their teapots were the same and they had mentioned it ti management but they said they were fine .I know it’s a very casual eating cafe which we have loved but the standard of hygiene concerns me and it’s not the staff’s fault . The toilet is not very clean either which has concerned me for a while .sad as the staff are so lovely.

Long wait to be served (no one serving). When they took my order it was about half hour before I got one roll. ( the order was a sausage buttie and a bacon and egg buttie and 2 coffees). After waiting another 5-10 minutes, I went to the counter to find out where my other items were. (New customers had been in since I placed my order and they were served their orders before me). My coffees were given to me at this point. A few seconds later my other buttie was put on the counter. At this stage my first buttie was cold. (I didn't eat it when it was brought out as I was with my wife and we eat together.). I was expecting my whole order in one go.I told the person I wanted a refund as they put the coffees on the counter and asked to speak to the manager. There was no manager in store they had left teenagers to run a busy shop and they could not cope. They gave me my refund but were very reluctant to give me the managers phone number so I could complain to them. They did phone the manager to let them know I wanted to speak to them but the manager didn't want to know.Unfortunately I think I upset one of the staff as I could hear her crying out in the wash room. For that I am sorry. The manager should have spoken to me, not leave it to a youngster to sort out. We eventually left left in a foul mood. We won't be going back or recommending this place to anyone.

Such a disappointing experience. I had the full English breakfast- the spinach leaves had seen better days and were slimy and past their best- the grilled tomato was so hard and undercooked- the fried eggs were burnt underneath (i never knew that a fried egg could be that burnt) and tasted bitter- the little pot of baked beans was so cold it had not even seen the heat-the sourdough was burnt. My husband had eggs Benedict with spinach. Same as before, the spinach was slimy and past its best. In addition we asked for salt and told there is no salt here. The pot of tea had a tin taste and the pot leaked everywhere.

Perfectly nice. Popped in for early lunch and had a toastie, pot of herbal tea, and some cake and it was lovely. The windows were all steamed up so it was hard to see if it was busy from outside and when I ventured in, found it wasn't busy at all. It had some chilled music on at a good low volume so I'd have been able to still hold a conversation if I wanted. The staff were young but polite and didn't make mistakes so what more could I ask for? The food was tasty and tea was lovely. Really nice way to have some lunch and watch the world go by through these enormous windows. :)

Sadly, this cafe is nowhere near as good as it once was. Tried to order a toasted sandwich and hot chocolate on Saturday lunchtime; they had run out of sandwiches. Staff were all very young and no one seemed to have a clear job role. Tables were dirty and not cleared away. Sofa we sat on was shabby and dirty. The whole place was unclean and many customers left before or after ordering. We ordered eggs benedict. After half an hour of waiting, and with two incorrect drinks brought to our dirty table, we gave up and asked for a refund. Poor young man at the counter seemed stressed and very apologetic. When asked, we learned that the manager was away. It was like an episode of The Apprentice where no one has a clue how to serve customers.Whole place needs a makeover and staff allocated to clearing tables and specific jobs.It was chaos, with no one taking the initiative on how to sort it out.

Me and my friend came on a Tuesday mid morning, it was really quiet in there and I can now understand why. Firstly we both got Apple juice which turned out to be Apple juice mixed with sparkling water, not the end of the world but certainly not what we were expecting. I had ordered the sausage bap which wasn’t too bad. My friend ordered the eggs Benedict but asked for it without ham due to being a vegetarian, the guy at the till could barely say more than a mumble and clearly hadn’t listened. Because when the food came hers had ham on it, she politely told the female waiter there who apologised and took it away. We expected a fresh one to be made but instead she just took the ham off and brought it straight back over. The bread was chewy and the eggs were hard boiled. In the time that we were there not a single table had been cleaned and the toilets could also do with a deeper clean than what they are receiving.

Unbelievable on Saturday. The ginger guy behind the counter really couldn’t have cared less. Scrolling away on some sort of computer, “I guess that’ll have to wait until later” he complained when he was interrupted by the customer in front of me because she wanted to buy food and drink from him. When we tried ordering it turns out they couldn’t do any food except toasties. Why’s that we asked. “Kitchen troubles. I tell you, it’s been one thing after another today”. I felt awful, how could I help make his experience better? Hang on, no I didn’t. I couldn’t give a toss.So we ordered some gingerbread lattes instead. Guess what, they didn’t have any.We sat down with what little they could offer and enjoyed it as best we could, hungrily. We suggested to a waitress that maybe they could put a sign up saying they weren’t doing food. She just rolled her eyes and said “yeah, we just run out of things”.As we were working out where else in Chichester we could maybe get some service and food, another customer left complaining “maybe put a sign on the door”. After he’d left the staff could be heard mockingly saying “yeah, put a sign on the door”.When we left I had to look for hidden cameras because the place was an absolute farce. So do yourself a favour, and go elsewhere. As for the staff, do yourself a favour and work elsewhere. Maybe for British Rail enquiries. And the owners, sell up quick because your staff are doing their best to ruin you.

The ham and cheese toasties was awful, not cooked properly and hardly any cheese, service was poor, our drinks came after the sandwich. Do not waste your money, go anywhere else for food and drinks!!!

Never tried this place until today (Sat 6th Jan) There is more detail I could add but this is enough. There is a large area for diners and a very small area for staff to work. There are not enough staff. They had no time to clear tables off, too many food orders and they weren’t preparing food in the right order. We were waiting for a bacon bap and cheese toasty for approx 45mins and saw several orders come out for ppl who’d ordered after us so I went ask. About 10 mins after this the cheese toastie arrived (burnt round edges) but no bap. Our parking was running out and had run out when we got there. Husband had finished his sandwich some time ago so we waited at the counter to say we had to go. A refund was offered. Clearly it hadn’t been prepared with the toasty. The queue continued. To whom it concerns please treat these staff better and use more of the large area you have for food prep so more than one person can be making food!

We opened the door to go in and was told we were not allowed as they were closing. Walking past 2 hours later they were still open. Do they have a policy of excluding old people?

Poor show. Used this place many times before, sudden change of staff and now this café has hit rock-bottom. Ordered two breakfasts to include one vegetarian with poached eggs, we were warned by the waiter it would take approx thirty mins. Five mins later, two meat breakfasts with fried eggs were brought to us by a very young girl. We explained this was wrong, she promised to 'fix it' and would come straight back. Smiling on return, she brought the same breakfast back with a gap on the plate, the meat had simply been removed, no sign of any smashed avocado!! At this point the orignal waiter intervened and now explained they were unable to poach eggs due to lack of vinegar, would I like an extra mushroom as consolation! The other breakfast had approx 7 baked beans swimming in a pool of tomato sauce! Most of the food was cold. Scabby enamel teapot, dirty menu and toilet facilities no better. £31.50 rip off!! A full on Fawlty Towers experience, without the laughs..
