Great tasting Cod & Chips (reasonably priced too!)

Chips are terrible, over cooked and soggy. Miserable, cold atmosphere. No love. Worst "chippy" ever! Doesn't have to be fine dining to make your customers feel welcomed.

Lovely people, nice choice and vegan options which is fantastic.

Food is brilliant here but the wait is very long !Placed an order on the app to pick up at 18.30 but was still sat waiting for it at 18.54 and didn't get food til 18.57.Not much point ordering with a collection time of have to wait a further half hour to get the food.

I don’t know why so many bad reviews - we almost were going further for th fish and chips. It’s a quiet Friday not great weather so not busy but the fish chips and curry sauce were lovely as were the staff that took our phone order (eventually be patient if it’s Friday night) so giving it 5 stars to try and bump it up a little !!!

Lovely tasty fish and chips, just what was needed after a day on the beach!

Visiting from New York we had the best fish and chips here for a birthday party! Delicious and fresh, and the staff are helpful and friendly.

I post lots of reviews of fish and chips as I travel around the country. How did the Royal Oak compare. It was OK but I have had a lot better. The premises were very quiet during my lunchtime visit around 13-15.I was across the road and didn’t see anyone go in for about five minutes before I did. I ordered large cod and regular chips. The fish was cooked to order. No one else came in whilst I was there. The fish was a good size and the batter was crispy. Sadly when I went to eat it about two minutes later the chips were very lukewarm. They had obviously been cooked a while ago and sat in the fryer tray keeping warm.Taste wise I have had much better. Both the chips and the fish had an oily taste which I can only put down to the oil or age of the oil.Sadly it spoilt what could have been superb. Will I revisit ? The jury is out.

How are they allowed to serve food like this, I gave them a chance after 8 years and it is horrible, I like to support all the businesses in Wittering, but this place has to give up, I left the food to the seagulls

Poor. Ordered 4 large cod's and 2 large chips. Asked twice if the chips had salt and vinegar on them. They assured us they had as we were taking away we opened up down at the beach and surprise surprise there was no salt and vinegar.Food was average. Batter was not fresh and was greasy. Chips had zero flavour and were dry. Fish itself was good and meaty.Rude server and wanted to charge us for an extra box. Overall I would not go near this place again!

I visit this chippy most weekends when I come to my parents. I can honestly say they serve the best fish, it’s always fresh white flaky cod. Absolutely mouth watering and delicious. Staff are always polite even when extremely busy. Keep up the good work.Vegetarian options: Excellent variety of vegetarian options.

We are not from the area so googled chippys in the area and Royal Oak came out as one of the best so we gave it a go. Between us (5 of us) we had chips, battered cod, battered sausage and sausages and it was all lovely.

Good traditional Chippie, individually cooked to order. Nice fresh fish.

Worst chip shop in Witterings Visited last night as Mobys was shut wish l had saved my money after spending £50 on this rubbish. Staff 2 ladies serving more interested in chatting than offering customer service. Menu don’t both half of the menu board was blanked out they had nothing on offer no savaloys, no burgers which was fine l heard at least 3 people ask for rolls and the staff said they had run out the joke is there is a Tesco a few shops up the road why didn’t they go and get some rolls? They are meant to be running a business obviously don’t want to make any money!!!!!!!!!!! After waiting 15/20 mins for our order we go home hoping to enjoy our fish and chips l was horrified when l opened the box and found not fresh cut chips but frozen chips had been given and the cost of nearly £4 a portion Good job l was going home this morning and the shop was shut l was planning on delivering the chips back and insist on a refund what chip shop serves frozen chips'!!!!!!!!!!! 23 years l have been coming to The Witterings this shop is letting the village reputation down. Don’t waste your money go to Mobys
