I don’t know why so many bad reviews - we almost were going further for th fish and chips. It’s a quiet Friday not great weather so not busy but the fish chips and curry sauce were lovely as were the staff that took our phone order (eventually be patient if it’s Friday night) so giving it 5 stars to try and bump it up a little !!!
I post lots of reviews of fish and chips as I travel around the country.How did the Royal Oak compare.It was OK but I have had a lot better.The premises were very quiet during my lunchtime visit around 13-15.I was across the road and didn’t see anyone go in for about five minutes before I did. I ordered large cod and regular chips. The fish was cooked to order. No one else came in whilst I was there.The fish was a good size and the batter was crispy. Food is brilliant here but the wait is very long !Placed an order on the app to pick up at 18.30 but was still sat waiting for it at 18.54 and didn't get food til 18.57.Not much point ordering with a collection time of have to wait a further half hour to get the food.
