A party of four of us were looking forward to attending this pub after seeing rave reviews but the food was almost inedible. My prawn cocktail starter was swimming in a tart lemony water and I couldn't detect the marie rose sauce which was supposed to be on a bed of lettuce.....obviously defrosted shrimps. The main courses were even worse with burnt scampi, microwaved chicken with a thick piece of bacon on top and a slop of glug poured over the top. The menu said that the chicken would be wrapped in ham, not last night's leftover bacon that was 1cm thick. All in all a terrible meal. We certainly won't be back. Perhaps they need to employ a chef instead of a cook that zaps everything in the microwave?

I went with a friend for lunch on a Saturday- some items were off the menu because the pub was waiting for a delivery. The waitress was lovely but did not know what the specials were. We both ordered the burger which were nice but the food was too big for the board it came on. Please bring back plates. The coleslaw was in a small ramekin and contained two teaspoonfuls. My friend who can only eat diary free food could not have a dessert because there was no cheesecake available. The menus looked dirty as did the outside area. Disappointing.

Ate at lunchtime. Good pub food although my dish had all the ingredients for the promised bubble and squeak, they had just not been cooked together. Pleasant outdoor area. Friendly staff.Parking: Parking for 10 cars

My partner and I were travelling along the A272 and looking for somewhere to have lunch when we spotted a sign to the Hare and Hounds and decided to take a look. We found a nice quiet little pub with friendly staff and an excellent lunch deal at a reasonable price. My partner decided to have the Prawn Cocktail as a starter and said that it was probably the best one she'd ever had. There were a couple of slight glitches as we'd both ordered the Gammon, Egg and Chips, but, shortly after we'd ordered, the young lady came out of the kitchen to apologise because they'd run out of gammon, but they could do bacon instead and we both decided that would be fine (which it was). Also, I'd ordered the Apple and Pear Pie with Crumble with Ice Cream for dessert, but the young lady had to apologise again as she had had a problem making the topping, so I just had the ice cream on its own which was very nice. The only slight down mark I'd make was that the food, being made to order, took some time to prepare and it would have been good if she could have taken all of our order in one go so there wouldn't have been such a gap between courses, however that was a minor issue and it certainly won't stop us going back there again some time. Definiately well recommended.

We haven't been to The Hare & Hounds before. Great lunch at a very reasonable price. The lady that served us was very helpful and nothing was to much trouble. Would thoroughly recommend.

What a fantastic find! We stopped to eat here on our way back from Brighton.Absolutely lovely pub, great bar staff and delicious food.I would absolutely recommend this place, 10 stars!!!!
