What a great little place. Nestled away from the busy main road. A tiny brown sign guides you down a small country lane. Sitting on the corner of this lane, is an unassuming building with a sign that reads, George And Dragon. It's an old pub with lots of character, a tombstone and a roaring fire. Beautifully presented inside and the staff are welcoming and friendly. There is an extension on the back to accommodate more people and this is tucked away nicely so it doesn't spoil the old world feel. The food is very good. A smaller menu than most places but well crafted and the chef appears to know his stuff. Dog friendly. I would recommend popping in for a bite to eat and a sample of the local beers and ales. Check the opening times before attending as food isn't served all day. There are also rooms to rent and stay if you feel like stopping over. A great little spot.

First visit to a pub that I’ve seen signposted for years … and am now regretting not stopping there before. Beautiful old pub ( with amazing new extension at the back now) and a lovely, welcoming atmosphere. We were there to have dinner with friends - had a great meal chosen from a well-thought through menu, with friendly service. Thank you to the lady behind the bar and also to Seb for a lovely evening. We will definitely be back ( PS the overnight accommodation looks fab too!).

Tried this pub as we are new to area and it had been recommended. Early booking on a Saturday night. Waited to be greeted, waited for our order to be taken and waited for food to be delivered. Wised we hadn’t bothered. Fish was extremely poor.. small and overcooked. Chicken schnitzel was a chicken breast in batter again overcooked. Peas were not delivered but when they came they were fresh and good. Restaurant was busy and only two staff.. disappointed! Don’t think we will be back

We would wholeheartedly recommend The George and Dragon as a wedding reception. It is a beautiful settling and the function room was perfect. Everything went smoothly and you thought of the smallest of details. Thank you Colette for all your help on the day!

The food was OK, cold drinks on a hot day very welcome for our bus tour group. What was surprisingly good was the historic pub building from Tudor times in very good restored condition, with a modern extension out the back to cater for more people and a good sized car park tucked around the side and the back. Waitstaff were more than helpful getting our group accommodated for lunch. The road approach is a minor road (not a major road) so some care needed to drive and enter the car park.

We chose to have our engagement party here and what a place! We had the barn and patio area for our guests. The staff were amazing! Food was amazing. And the atmosphere was incredible. I would highly recommend this venue for events!

Lovely pub and really friendly staff however at £9.60 for a glass of wine it’s overpriced. I will also never eat here again. £17 for the tiniest bit of cod, tablespoon of peas and cold fries. A real shame.

Sunday roast was amazing, we had chicken, beef and pork belly with all the trimmings and loved it Service was fantastic, Live music made the atmosphere even better Highly recommend again and again
Not quite sure what has happened to this pub, as it seems to have gone quite significantly down hill since I first came here a few months ago. The food is the credit of brakes, which has always been the case, however. The waiting staff are very friendly, however I only wish I could say the same about the rest of the staff, since the walls between the kitchen and the rest of the restaurant, specifically the female toilets directly beside the kitchen, are extremely thin, therefore A LOT can be heard from the vicinity of the kitchen, which doesn't exactly make the whole experience any better. The entire feel to the place feels very corporate and significantly lacks the traditional country pun atmosphere.

Lovely staff and tasty food. The staff kept the kitchen open for us kindly after we came back later than planned. Really nice atmosphere and a cute room to stay in above the old stable. Amazing walks nearby at Knepp.

This used to be a really lovely old pub with huge character. The food was hearty and cooked with love. The location is delightful. We returned after a lengthy absence and I have since read it’s been taken over by the people that own the Tipsy Fox. This makes sense…it now feels very corporate. The character of the old pub has been diminished. I’m actually not too sure what it’s trying to be. The interior is trying very hard to be contemporary and I suspect trying to portray an image of an upmarket eatery, however the menu does not reflect this. The starters are more Brakes than chef and the main courses really rather dull. The food is OK. The staff were lovely. If the image that they are trying to portray is one of an upmarket dining room then offer a few more wines. We had a choice of 3 whites!! A personal comment! I do not like gender neutral toilets. Sadly I will not be returning and I won’t be recommending it.

Had a great time out with my family yesterday. An enjoyable venue with live music and lively atmosphere, our needs were always at the forefront of our waitress, Sarah. The food was amazing, from start to end. With many options on the menu, there was something for each of us in attendance. We all look forward to coming back for our next meal.
