Absolutely beautiful old, traditional, country pub. It has stunning views over South Downs, the food was impeccable, extremely friendly staff and it's so warm and cosy inside you never want to leave. This is a must visit for anyone visiting the area!

Absolutely cracking pub with delightful service, lovely food, masses of character, epic beer garden with incredibly well tended roses, and wonderful beer. Would give more than 5 stars if I could!

Quintessential English country pub with food and service so inviting you'll want to visit again. If you'd never been to a country pub and had only an idyllic picture of what it would be...look no further. Cosy fires, real ale from the barrel, friendliest of greeting, garden with beautiful views, food to tell others about.Dog friendly and car park. Although recommended (long) walk from Harting Down. But if you want a table and food you really must book ahead. Dont look for fancy web site booking; pick up a phone and speak old school!Parking: Car park gets busy at peak times. But plenty nearby too.

Superbly run South Downs pub. Excellent food, attentive service and welcoming atmosphere. Owner operated and run. Finger on the pulse and it shows.

Went to this lovely country pub with some friends for dinner. The pub is in a perfect setting whether it is in summer in the garden or winter in the cosy dining room. I had the local venison and it was delicious; perfectly cooked. And the Sticky Toffee Pudding is to die for. If you find yourself in the area; this pub is not to be missed.

I was told this was a a delightful country pub, having grown up in the countryside and having moved to the city I thought all wonderful, friendly and welcoming pubs had vanished. This is a treasure as it is the archetypal British pub serving great food and fabulous bitter. The liver and bacon was perfectly cooked and served with nicely crisp broccoli, the service was friendly and the pub had a lovely warm atmosphere. I would recommend this pub to anyone who doesn't want plastic food served by staff with artificial smiles. I truly great British pub.

Late review but ate here a few week ago. We has a coronation salad with chicken and a steak pie, both incredible meals sat in a beautiful garden with views to die for. I had the pavlova for desert which was good to. On the way to leave I got some local honey and my wife (Italy born) got two bottles of local limoncello which was according to her was the best she has ever tasted. We will definitely visit again when come back in to the country
