So I've just been to enquire about booking a room for my brother in law who's coming down from Scotland and was met by a lady, "what do you want""I just want to enquire about booking a room for my.....""No, do it online"Then just walks away. Very rood. Was disappointed.

I stayed here for one night at the weekend and was extremely pleasantly surprised by the quality of both the room and the facilities for the price I paid. The bed was comfortable, the bathroom was fab, and the little breakfast selection was much appreciated! I would definitely stay here again in the future.

Really enjoyed my stay here.Rooms are decent size for couple or solo traveller.Bathrooms are nice and modern.TV signal is a bit temperamental and the WiFi doesn’t appear to be too strong, but not enough of an issue to be a problem. The restaurant was shut when I was there. As it is located out of town, it means getting food or drink is driving distance. The views outside were amazing. I imagine the outdoor seating area would be incredible during the summer. The hill going up to the hotel is not for the faint hearted. You have to stop at a T junction just before the peak and my word…the only way I can describe it is that my balloon knot was puckering more than a thousand goldfish trying to hill start on it.The pictures don’t do it justice tbf.But great stay.Rooms: Rooms are comfortable. Two single beds pushed together but fine. Bathroom is new and modern, shower was hot.Walkability: It’s at the top of a hill and in the middle of a lot of fields and narrow roads. Walking is fine, plenty of people were doing it. Just be aware the hill into Halifax town centre is very steep and will work the hamstrings on the way back up.Food & drinks: Coffee and tea in the room but restaurant was shut during my stay. It is attached the rooms so would be really great to have a meal and drink there, especially as any other pub or restaurant is driving distance.

The Sustainable Forest Lodge was a testament to eco-conscious living. Surrounded by the beauty of the forest, it provided a harmonious retreat. Our lodge room was comfortable and had all the eco-friendly amenities we could ask for. The lodge staff were passionate about conservation and provided great tips for exploring the local ecosystem. A stay here is a step towards a greener future.

THIS HOTEL IS CLOSED. On 20th Aug we booked and received a confirmation for a 2 night stay at The New Hobbit hotel starting 13 Sep. On the 12 Sep we received an email welcoming us to the hotel and offering online check-in which we duly completed. After a 2 hour drive to yorkshire we arrived at the hotel to find it closed with notices for airbnb and booking.com customers with a number to ring. We had booked direct through the hotels own website, so no use to us. After knocking on the door a man answered saying he had booked the entire hotel from the new owners, and that we were not the first to turn up expecting a room we had already booked. We rang the hotel phone, which was permenantly engaged. With no room we drove home, end of planned break

Booked in for the 2 nights 6/7 September. Arrived, the place was locked shut with a typed notice on the door saying it was under new management and was now closed. Looked a complete shambles inside. Someone had written a couple of phone numbers on the closed notice. A shifty evasive woman answered with a load a crap explanations. A £60000 Jaguar parked in the car park. Has it been taken over by brigands with expensive tastes???

For the first time ever I booked a non refundable room and for the first time ever booked the wrong day. I mailed the hotel the following day to ask if I could change to the night after. I have not been able to do this, or speak to anyone. The phone at the place is permanently off the hook and the mobile number doesn’t pick up or reply to texts. There were plenty of rooms the following night when I wanted the booking for. I am a single parent and can’t afford to pay again. Moreover my brother has just moved to Sowerby Bridge and I will be needing a room a lot in the future. Complete Morons.
