Beer was average ,ambience spoiled by loud customers using swearing every other word ,and pub manager totally ignored this. Not acceptable

This bar/hotel is situated right in the heart of Halifax, I have stayed here 4x and love it, Jackie the boss is down to earth and when I say that I really mean it. There is no breakfast served here but there is a weatherspoon a 7 min walk, the shopping centre is right across the road, and it is only a 4 min walk into heart of town centre, the bar offers ales and bottles, Thursdays they do meal nights from 6pm onwards. I would definitely visit again, and again and again.

The positives first, the bedding was clean and it’s an easy walk in to town. The negatives - it’s an absolute dump. It is definitely not ‘Luxury Ensuite Accommodation’ as the sign outside says. It’s filthy, the bedroom and bathroom floor had wrappers, dirt, dust and fingernails on it’. It’s the worse place I have ever stayed. The walls are stud walls so you can hear the people next door throwing up. The mirrors and bed heads are all wonky and hanging off. The bathroom lino and bedroom curtains have cigarette burns in. It is honestly hideous .

I've stayed here a couple of times now. Great little hotel, comfortable bed and a really friendly manager (Jackie). Don't let the low prices put you off, they're absolutely not a reflection of the quality of rooms and customer service! 5 Stars!Rooms: Great little rooms, comfortable beds.Nearby activities: Town centre, Piece Hall, lots of pubs and bars, plenty of shops and all within a close distance to the hotel.Walkability: Short walk to most of Halifax's main attractions, the Piece Hall for example which is practically just over the road.

The floors in the hotel are quite noisy at night time but other than that it's a great hotel, the staff are wonderful and the proximity to the pieces hall is perfect. Thanks for a great stay.Walkability: Very close to the piece hall and Halifax train station

As these rooms are above a pub/function room there was often a lot of noise both from underneath and from people sitting outside with little to no concern for visitors above (and evidently no concerns from management either). Both nights I stayed I was kept awake by loud arguments outside the pub which meant my sleep quality was both short and awful. There was a minor inconvenience in that the closest toilet to my room was out of order which meant I had to go to the other side of the hotel for a shower/ toilet. In terms of security, I was told the downstairs door would be locked and that I had to use a key to get in, however at no point during my stay was it locked which was worrying as anyone from the pub downstairs could go upstairs, regardless of the sign saying 'Hotel Guests onlyConsidering the price of the room, I would've expected more from this establishment.

Room was lovely, reception was friendly, perfect overnight stop for an event at the Piece hall.I'm not likely to be down this way very often but will make sure to book this place if we are.
