“This is a classic pub in the heart of a proper ancient Yorkshire village. The people, the drink and the ambience were exactly what we had been hoping to find on our visit to the north. For summer visits, there is an enchanting beer garden out the back and up the steps. Go there and go back in time. Do visit the church a mere stone’s throw away, and cool your feet in the lovely adjacent stream.”

“Very big and reasonably busy at 4pm but plenty of seating. Friendly service, food lovely. The downside was the menus were sticky and needed wiping.”
“Really nice friendly pub with great staff and huge choice of drinks. If you ask for coffee with hot oat milk you get a decent jug full too. Lovely setting with various places to sit inside and out or next to the river”
