Called in a couple of weeks ago to ask if they could accommodate a small wake, the landlady, Karen, couldn't have been more helpful and as promised provided a lovely buffet yesterday at a more than reasonable price. Karen and the other lady, sorry don't know her name, were really welcoming and looked after us, thanks.

Stopped off for impromptu lunch on Thursday 7th Sept - what a little gem - lovely warm welcome from lady behind the bar - Bradley our server was very polite and welcoming too. My daughter had sausage and mash and I had fish and mash - food was fabulous, piping hot and very tasty. Would strongly recommend. Only 4/5 for atmosphere because it was very quiet when we were there but I’m sure it’s better when busy ?

I stopped here for a couple of hours whilst waiting to collect a friend from a meeting close by.I ordered a quick snack, Onion Bhaji, although it was quite tasty, was somewhat expensive for what I actually received. See the photo below. £6.75?

Lovely place to stumble across, much bigger inside than expected. Liked the outdoor seating area with great views although too wet to sit outside. Probably would benefit from some new decor (a bit dated) but all the same a lovely, friendly place to drink. Hope to visit again soon.

Do you know when you go to have a Sunday dinner at someone's house and it just don't look good , as if they can't cook... thats what it looked like, very bland no flavour to the Sunday dinner. And wow the cola what is that all about infamous cola im surprised it was drank.

Ordered four meals from the lunchtime menu - fish, chips and mushy peas, very nice; sausages with mash, onion gravy and garden peas, lovely; steak and kidney pie with chips and peas, great, loads of meat; chicken goujons with chips, peas and bbq sauce, enjoyed but not much chicken. We all enjoyed our visit and will definitely return.

Had a drink in the beer garden whilst the staff set up a table inside. Service was excellent and the food was nice and good value. Have been here before and will definitely do so again.

Great, friendly pub with good outdoor space at the rear. Staff are friendly, welcoming and helpful especially Morgan. We eat here on Saturday evening and had Sunday lunch, both meals were amazing and service was great. The Raindeer also sells real ale, which was also a great buy. Could not rate this place highly enough. The manager was lovely and very accommodating.and it is a five minute walk from the National Coal Mininig Museum which I would also highly recommend you visit.

Good home cooking nothing fancy, none of that triple cooked chips and line caught fish twaddle. Just plain food like I like it.
