Best pint in or around Wakefield always a pleasure to go the staff are friendly and reamber what you drink just had the best salmon meal in a long time this is a must for a good pint and really good quality food just now the kitchen is closed and has been for some the kitchen reopens on the 14th September yessss Sunday lunch today best topside roast three courses three drinks for two cheaper than Toby cavery and 100 times better as always staff a pleasure the new restaurant food...read full review
Just Thai - The food was good, and ready quickly. Probably a little on the expensive side, but that's only cos I'm used to burgers n chips at the local, Wednesday night after biking, there's a few people in the pub eating and drinking, it was just ok, a bit of music would have helped liven the place up.

A superb, traditional and historic pub with low ceilings and lots of character. There is also a peaceful beer garden and bright conservatory at the back. The staff were very friendly and welcoming and the food was freshly cooked, generously portioned and very good quality. We had the Sunday roast and a Thai dish which were both excellent. This is so much better than the many chain pubs nearby and well worth seeking out either for a craft beer and/or an excellent meal
