Unfortunately our experience wasn’t great, maybe this wasn’t on the staff but I’m going to rate based on my overall experience. We as a couple had Sunday lunch in one of their rooms that was empty except for one other family - so there was no atmosphere to enjoy. And this family chose to have their kids watching peppa pig at full volume. And were very loud in general as though they were enjoying themselves at home vs in public. The staff said they couldn’t move us. The food was ok, not amazing, but we just had to eat as fast as we could and leave.

Beautiful pub, we were seated in front of a roaring log fire which kept the room so warm on a cold February eve. Food was beautifully presented, lots of options to choose from on the menu. Only disappointment was that they had ran out of the cheesecake and we weren't notified of this when choosing our desserts. Lovely staff who were welcoming and friendly and a good choice of wines. Definitely a special occasion placed to dine as it isn't cheap, we also loved there was no music being played in the pub. Instead it was the crackle of the fire and people chatting in the background which made a lovely atmosphere.

Don’t waste your money - rude staff who don’t care if you have a terrible visit. The room was FREEZING despite asking for a extra heater the noisy little floor fan just dried out the air and took the worst chill off but it was bone chillingly cold. And considering this was a birthday / anniversary gift it wasn't much fun sleeping with our jumpers, socks n hats on!! It’s an old building and thick walls so not sure why it was absolutely freezing possible it was unused for several days and had got ‘cold cold’…. Mattress was very very firm so not comfortable at all :( . The room was a lot smaller than photos suggested I think they used a wide lens in adverts. There was no tv which we didn’t notice untill we were laying in bed at 3am unable to sleep. There was no spare blankets :( Headboard loose so rattled everytime we turned over....truly an utterly miserable night! Breakfast was below average. Poached eggs slightly undercooked so snotty, mushrooms undercooked and a bit cold. Tea was in a pot so we both got one cup drunk before it stewed so much it was undrinkable. Over all a very disappointing night exacerbated by tiredness from the cold room, not the cosy romantic night we have hoped for. I think they spend a lot of time making it LOOK nice and not much time actually making sure it IS nice. I have NEVER been in such a cold hotel before.TBH we would not have said anything BUT…when I was at checkout and I was asked if I had a nice stay I said quietly ‘’tbh we were freezing and didn’t sleep well’ and I could not believe the immediate sarcastic eye roll !! as if to say ‘’oh here we go’ and the woman immediately went on the defensive. I was shocked. And very annoyed. I never asked for any money off nor a discount I just wanted to let them know it was miserable cold night for us, however because of the immediate unprofessional reaction from that woman I don’t care who knows how rubbish it was. So here we are now. Letting everyone know because she couldn’t keep her bad mood to herself and be more professional.Be warned that looking pretty doesn't always mean anything. And at £130 I feel ripped off. Discounted off £185 BTW... avoid.Rooms: Smaller than expected but mainly FREEEEEEZING COLD

Absolutely delicious food. We had the Sunday lunch. Definitely not the cheapest you’ll find but it is so worth the price. Amazing service also. We will definitely be

We had a lovely dinner at the Sign of the Angel last Saturday. The food was exquisite and our waitress, Taylor was super sweet and attentive.

Historic pub with great food. The hake and the pork dishes were especially good. Friendly prompt service. Great atmosphere. Reasonably priced. Need to book. Afterwards take a walk through the unique historic village to St Cyriac's Church.

We slept in a fairy tale? The hotel is idyllic, room was snug, breakfast unbeatable? We had a lovely walk through the little village... In one word: brilliant??

We spent two nights at Sign of the Angel and had dinner there on our first night as well. It was everything we had imagined it would be and more. The room was ideal and the food was delicious. I want to specifically thank Maddie, who greeted us initially at reception, immediately offered to help us with our bags, and made every effort to ensure we had a pleasant stay while we were in Lacock. She was absolutely lovely and really made our stay even that much better. I would highly recommend Sign of the Angel to anyone looking for a good stay or a good meal.

Awesome place to stay, lots of history around the town and in the pub. The room we stayed in was fantastic, the only downside was the bathroom needs some love and is not ideal for anyone of 6ft but this is more than understandable considering the age of the building! The garden was a fantastic place to sit down, enjoy a meal and a drink or two. The only downside was the wasps of which my partner was not the biggest fan but luckily the kind gentlemen at the place gave her a bug zapper titled "the exterminator" which we all got a good chuckle out of! Also there is a very friendly cat that was more than happy to come and say hello and even hop up on your lap for a pat if you wished. Highly recommend staying here, especially for any Harry Potter fans as there are quite a few filming locations set in and around Lacock, the pub even features in one of the films!

Exquisite Brunch at the Angel.Sign of the Angel, a 15th century old inn is located in a beautiful Cotswold village, named Lacock.Recently, my friend and I visited this magnificent place and I can confirm that both of us had a fantastic and memorable experience. The atmosphere inside was very soothing and relaxing. This wonderful establishment is decorated with soft lighting, accompanied by mellow acoustic tunes. We were stunned by the flickering flames of a wood burning stove whilst enjoying a hot chocolate and also waiting for our food to arrive.I ordered Eggs Royale and my friend had Eggs Benedict. Both dishes were perfectly cooked and tasted celestial. The overall service was impeccable. Thank you to the great team and their professionalism. You have definitely won me and my friend as one of your permanent customers, and I would love to recommend your establishment to all my acquaintances.Once again, thank you for your admirable hospitality. This place is worth visiting for all the food lovers who want to taste different food flavours. What a truly magical location!

Really disappointing lunch. Risotto was underseasoned, almost tasteless - plus overcooked and mushy. Fish of the day had been deep fried in a heavy oil, also very underseasoned, leaving my dining companion tasting little other than grease. We were too hungry to send back. Seemingly other reviewers have had different experiences but ours wasn't a good one.A shame because staff and service lovely, and the building of course very charming.

Awful Caesar chicken salad and the thrice cooked chips were a joke !!!! The chips looked like the scrapings from the bottom of the fryer ! I think this establishment is used to customers who are tourists making a one off visit and not those who are local and would possibly return. We certainly will not be making another reservation. An experience we would like to forget sadly !!

Absolutely beautiful pub sadly let down by lack of seating for those not dining, we came for a family wedding and after sitting in the garden for a couple of hours we wanted to sit inside as it was getting chilly only to be told all the seats were reserved for people that were eating, when we finally sat for wedding breakfast service was somewhat haphazard, not knowing who was having what and clearing the table whilst people were still eating, chicken was tasty but not very hot and veg came out half way through the meal , we also had an issue with a local over parking who had threatened to call the police, lacock is beautiful and we did consider coming back but maybe would chose another area of the village to stay

We called at The Sign of the Angel twice, once for coffee, the next time for lunch. Fantastic food, lovely coffee, friendly and helpful staff and a beautiful old building.
