Dropped in as a birthday treat for my wife, hadn't booked but got in as we were there early ~4pm, definitely need to book if you're planning to go for dinner, there were 3 groups waiting for a table when we left at 6pm on a Thursday. The staff were very nice and getting orders in was fine.Starters came about 10 minutes after we placed the order. Elder son 12 had the garlic bread, it was a full pizza size, definitely could have been a sharer but was fresh and crisp he really enjoyed it. I had the pork belly, fine flavour but a bit dry wouldn't have it again, my wife had pil pil shrimp, they were very good with a nice balance of garlic and chilli and would recommend them.Elder son didn't want a meal so had camembert for main, nice. I had the minted lamb, very nice I would definitely have again even though it wasn't as pink as I had hoped it may be, the flavours were rich and satisfying. My wife had the pork, similarly nice and not dry as pork can sometimes be, the dauphinoise potato was delicious. My younger son had the build your own pizza with 2 toppings, he enjoyed it and said it was tasty, it was from the junior kids menu and was adequate size however for reference it wasn't as big as the starter garlic bread, not small but the starter was large.Sticky toffee pudding - very nice not too heavy, mini strawberry and passion fruit Eton mess - not evidence of actual fruit in there but it could have been blended to a purée, rhubarb crumble and custard - very nice with real chunks of rhubarb and a nice crisp crumble. It was a special occasion and we could have stuck to the prix fixe menu, the drinks cost £20 for 3 pints of cola and 1 apple juice. Seems expensive, maybe I'm out of touch. All in the birthday meal deal brought it down to ~£100, without the voucher it would have been £120-130. Glad we didn't drink alcohol!A little pricey for me even if it's a nice pub with good food and staff, it's still a Mitchell's and Butlers chain pub.Parking: I got there early ~4pm plenty of parking then but it quickly filled up.Kid-friendliness: Older kids are fine, younger kids, there is a under 5's menu but I would suggest this isn't the atmosphere for the average 5 year old unless they're well behaved and can sit quietly.

I ordered paella there was no taste to it needed more flavour to it a Chinese curry has more flavour very disappointed and to top it all off when I came to pay the bill I was charged £100 more than what the bill was supposed to be ? I would like to note there has not been any follow up from the owner of Ego I have not heard anything from him sinceVery disappointedTake your money and run

Amazing Mediterranean food. Really delicious food and of very good quality. Definitley worth a visit. Plenty of options on the menu so there is definitely something for everyone of all dietary restriction.Parking: Plenty of parking including disabled bays. Remember to input your vehicle registration into the tablet inside the restaurant.

Had a meal here on a busy Saturday night. Service was excellent and fast. Food was nice but rather pricey for the quality. Generous portion sizes though so can’t complain. Only bad thing was I ordered Pepsi Max rather than a pint of cider and was shocked to find a Pepsi is the same price as a cider at £4:65! Not great for the drivers who drink pop. Next time I’ll have a pint

First time at Ego. Husband is coeliac but noticed that there was a good choice of gluten free food on the website menu so booked. On arrival he was informed that the gluten free fryer was out of order so he wouldn't be able to have chips. That limits the menu immediately if he had wanted a steak. This obviously would not happen with the normal fryer and a replacement would be organised immediately! He then settled on the kebab which sounded great with gluten free wraps and tsatsuki. When the waitress arrived to take the order she said they didn't have any gluten free wraps. The great selection suddenly "wasn't "!! He had carbonara - average and overpriced. The restaurant has a really nice feel to it, the staff and service was really good. If we go again I think we'll check before travelling that they do actually have some gluten free food. This is really miserable when you have a dietary requirement- not a life choice and very few restaurants actually seem to cater well for this. We thought Ego was going to be different

Food was a bit slower to arrive than anticipated, but we were a large table of 16, so maybe our expectations were a bit high! There was plenty of food when it arrived though, and it was all really nice, no complaints from anyone, which was a surprise... Staff were attentive and prompt with requests, and the atmosphere was really nice. Tables were well-laid out, and thought had been given to our requirements given upon booking which was a real bonus! Will definitely be a place we look at coming back to.

The service was rather slow. When my order arrived, it had 2 straggly bits of broccoli, whereas my husbands had lots of broccoli and French beans. They were quick to bring me some beans when we asked. They wrong type of sauce was brought. Some people on another table said the drinks were expensive. The staff were very friendly and obviously busy. The restaurant was clean as were the toilets.I'm not sure if I would go again.
