I think this probably would've been very good, except I'll never know because we were never served after nearly half an hour...

Lovely dog friendly pub,

This is (in my opinion) the best restaurant in the Stourbridge area for sure, Great food and service, well served by a friendly staff, and at reasonable prices too.

Quirky and very cosy pub in a beautiful location! Waiting staff were very professional and attentive! Only thing we were disappointed with was where we were sat, it was a bit tight! Delicious food! ? We had: A complimentary amuse-bouche of vegetable samosas. Starters: • Cheese soufflé with asparagus • Blue cheese garlic bread (Not enough blue cheese ☹️) Mains: • Lamb - The best lamb I’ve ever had!!! Would definitely recommend this!! • Beef Wellington Both served with dauphinois potatoes and steamed vegetables. Desserts: • Raspberry bakewell • Crème brûlée Go and try this place out!!!

Not as good as I remember…………so we went for Sunday lunch. There were four of us - we didn’t have starters, then we had the pork, turkey and beef. Positives - the meals arrived hot with additional gravy and the vegetables came in baskets / dishes for you to self serve. The lows….. my turkey definitely didn’t taste like it had been carved off a whole turkey, it was quite salty and I think I was rolled…. Or maybe purchased sliced …. It definitely didn’t taste right. The beef, you choose whether you want pink or not…. This too seemed to be pre-sliced beef which again didn’t seem to be freshly carved from a joint. We then ordered desserts - I was really looking forward to the rhubarb frangipani tart with ice cream - the ice cream was excellent quality, unfortunately despite me being able to see the rhubarb I certainly didn’t taste it, I also couldn’t taste the frangipani, it was a bland sponge. Very disappointed. I won’t be returning for Sunday lunch as for the price I feel it was a disappointing experience.

It's been a few years since my last visit to The Fountain. Amazing food once again! I had three courses (goats cheese, veal and creme brulee) and all were excellent. I felt full, but not stuffed. Very enjoyable evening!

The food was very good as it has always been, I cannot fault them for that. The Sunday roasts are always generous, with plenty of vegetables and extra gravy. To me, the place lacks what it always used to have - that little bit extra. The atmosphere of this pub seems to have dwindled taking its service standard with it. Upon arrival to the venue our table wasn’t ready. Therefore we had to stand at the bar. There was no apology from the management, instead we were abruptly asked to “move away from the bar”. Quite laughable considering we had nowhere else to go as our table was 15 minutes late in being ready. Although all of the waiters and waitresses were friendly and polite, they are clearly inexperienced. Due to the party having a couple of small children, the demand for ketchup was high. I think we asked for more sauce on seven occasions, each time being served small pots of sauce. Maybe a more experienced person would have just handed over the bottle or a large pot? I won’t be rushing back in a hurry.

Visited this pub/restaurant a few times before and have always enjoyed previously. Regrettably this was not the case on this visit. There was a very good choice of reasonably priced food and the food when received was very nice. The issue was with the service. The waiting staff, whilst pleasant and polite were very young and seemed inexperienced with little initiative shown. Twenty minutes after our party of 8 had finished our mains our plates were still in front of us, with no attempt to check back to see if we wanted desserts, which we did! However, a bigger problem was the bar service where there appeared to be only one person serving. With it being a nice day out many walkers were taking advantage of the fine weather and called in casually- this exaggerated the problem. The services was appallingly slow, just one example being a member of our party, despite having asked three times, had still not received a pint of beer after three quarters of an hour. The Manageress was clearly struggling with staff shortages saying to other tables, as well as ours, that she had been praying for rain in the hope there wouldn’t be any walk in customers! It was a poor experience on this occasion leading to us demanding our bill and leaving.

I used to live nearby 40 years ago so didn't know what to expect but the Fountain proved to be a very good choice. The food is excellent and well priced with a £20 for two courses deal which was as much as both of us wanted. It's local produce where possible and obviously fresh and well prepared. The service matched too with pleasant and helpful staff.

My sister in law and I came here for lunch and although it's been a while since I'd eaten at The Fountain, neither of us were disappointed. The menu choices were really tempting, from hearty, winter warmers to lighter oriental-sounding dishes. We both went for the sea bass and loved the dauphinoise potatoes and fresh veg which came with it. Generous portions of veg and if you felt like more, these came at no extra cost and were piping hot - sister in law just loves potatoes! We followed that with dessert. Mine was a billiantly wobbly panna cotta with a zingy mango and lime salsa. And although the place wasn't heaving, there was a lovely atmosphere and the staff made us feel really welcome. We'll be back!

Some of the best pub grub you will find in a lovely setting. Although fairly pricey at first glance, the portions are excellent size so good value for money overall. Jackie always looks after you and staff are trained well and always happy to help. Definitely worth a visit. ..or 10!

We have eaten here many times and it’s always enjoyable. This time however lacked in some way. We are working Christmas Day so booked a family meal beforehand. The food was lovely as usual and we were given extra potato’s on request. The service however lacked its special touch we are used to. We booked a 2pm table but didn’t realise they close for a few hours before the evening. This meant as soon as we were seated the starters were brought out and we were asked if we would be happy to have desserts right after mains. This wasn’t really a problem but it just all felt rushed. It would have been good to be told at booking that they close, that way I could have booked an earlier slot and spent longer with the family we won’t see Xmas day. The servers, although perfectly fine, didn’t seem to have the jolly disposition we are usually greeted with. I guess they may have been frazzled with the Christmas rush. None the less a great meal
