Wow what a difference, new owners, new chef and Ian is back!!! We had a fantastic Sunday lunch, beautiful beef and fresh vegetables. The Jockey is back.

Lunch today 21/2/24 not good. Booked as a treat by my husband as I had been unwell for sometime. Ordered fish & chips which was overcooked with a tiny piece of fish and slushy minted peas. Husband had the burger which he said was good but with coleslaw swimming in liquid. Been to the Jockey on numerous occasions & always good. Come on Jockey you have a reputation to uphold!

Cancelled Birthday meal with 4 days notice. Very poor!

Excellent food (and a great selection to choose from). The service was good - almost too efficient - and very attentive.

I would be reluctant to visit again for Sunday lunch. The starter was delicious but the roast beef was sadly very tough, although it looked appetising. I asked for a steak knife which helped but not enough. On making a comment, I was told that that was the problem with topside of beef. We were entertaining a guest which was unfortunate as he chose the beef too.

Booked for Sunday dinner, felt it was like they wanted to get us in and out, we arrived at 1:45pm and left at 2.45pm and that was having 2 courses! hadn’t even sat down 2 minutes and they wanted to take the drinks order, we were still clearly looking at the wine list, came back 5 minutes later and took our drinks order, then shortly after wanted to take out food order, the starters arrived I had “chicken liver mouse with brioche toast” the toast was burnt! they cleared out plates from the starter and before we knew it the mains were there, we both had roast beef unfortunately it was all cold, which clearly tell me that it had been sat there for sometime, even the veg was cold, and the potatoes undercooked. Highly disappointing as we were recommended to try the jockey!

There we 4 in our party and we had 1 x mussels 1 x sea bream 1 x fish & chips and 1 x pan fried smoked haddock . We were all very impressed . Service excellent. Atmosphere excellent food superb . All staff were friendly, efficient and went the extra mile . We'll be back again and can highly recommend The Jockey .

Popped in for a drink, mid Saturday. It was quiet. Paid£9.15 for a pint of aspalls & an elderflower Tonic water, expensive. Saw the menu for Saturday, looked a good variety and reasonable price. Asked to look at a Sunday menu, for arranging another time, young barman went to find one, but I didn't see him again, until I was leaving, which he did offer to find me one, but I was going out the door. On looking around saw windows were dirty, in several areas. Nice looking pub, but areas need tweeking.

Went for a meal with my partner, food was poor, I had a beef burger and fries.. burger was cheap and tasteless, no bacon or anything inside, just one slice of lettuce and a slice of tomato with some Smokey relish and cheese, skin on fries definitely cooked in dirty oil, could taste it easily, and the sweet chilli slaw they serve with it is just gross, who mixes up onion and carrot and covers it with cheap sweet chilli sauce, vile! My partner had gammon, supposed to be hand cut chips but they were just frozen chunky chips, again cooked in dirty oil, he said he is was also poor, just salty and gross. Then the puddings were Just as bad, I had sticky toffee pudding, which was microwaved as it was half hot half cold, not even a nice one, just cheap and nasty, my partner had the cheese cake which I point blank refused to pay for, it was a gelatinous slab of crap! The nicest thing on the table was the £23 bottle of rosè! Atmosphere in here was ok, service was wasn’t bad, decor is nice, cleanliness was good, toilets were nice and clean and smelt nice. It’s a shame really because the place has loads of potential, unfortunately I’ve had nicer meals at wether spoons for a third of the price! Over all I wouldn’t recommend it for food or drink, it’s way over priced, and just not very good.

From walking into the jockey, we noticed the cleanliness. The pub was sparkling. It had a great atmosphere. The bar service was good and so was the table service. The staff were polite and cheerful. The food was lovely. We had the Sunday roast. Will definitely go again.

We came for Sunday lunch, which was expensive at £26.00 for 2 courses. The only vegetarian option was Gnocchi in a tomato sauce. It was very poor value for what it was. The ambience is good and the staff were attentive, it’s a pity they are not a good option for vegetarians.
