We arrived to a very warm, open and friendly welcome, after a long arduous journey. The room was very clean with comfortable large bed. Nothing was too much trouble for any of the staff. We had an evening meal and full English breakfast the following morning both of which were exceptional. The food is beautifuly cooked, presented, good quality quality and quantity. A delightful experience.

I opted for the roast dinner, and it exceeded all expectations. Great lunch here today, the roast pork belly was melt in the mouth and the crackling was perfect. My partner's pasta dish was also excellent. There was a wake taking place in the lounge, but the staff worked hard to keep both areas separated. Will be back for more, highly recommended.

This has to be the best "off the beaten track" Pub, Restaurant, Hotel ever, the host Donna was amazing, nothing was too much trouble, I understand she only took over running the Chequers in December 2023, and what she has acheived since then is unbelievable, the pub has a great ambience, we stayed in room 4 it was quirky with old beams creaking floorboards, comfortable bed and immaculately clean, we ate haddock and chips in the restaurant on the evening and couldn't fault it, the full English breakfast was served hot and tasty and set us up for the day, we couldn't fault any part of our stay at Chequers, we will definitely return soon.

Our first time here, came at 5 oclock the kitchen opened at 6 and my daughter was offered some paper and pencils to draw which kept her happy and busy ? Absolutely amazing food, big portions and good value for money. Everyone was so welcoming and friendly, will definitely be back x

The staff were very friendly and Understanding we arrived to warm welcome with a log fire, the food was delicious and all freshly made. We will definitely go back to raise a glass or two to my beloved husband. It seems odd to put a review on at such a time but I felt I should share my experience.

Donna and staff very friendly and accommodating especially the chef as I have food allergy, the food was prepared to my taste. Nothing was too much trouble. We stayed the night clean but rooms need updating, having said that it was adequate. Promised by Donna our next stay will hv more updated rooms. Excellent value for money
