I've been going to the monkey on and off for 52 years. If you want to experience something unique and different, you must go. It's a friendly atmosphere and characters you don't see very often.

Unique place serving authentic dry REAL cider. A lovely lady serves you through a hatch in a thatched cottage. Very reasonably priced at £3.60 a pint too and takeaway available too. Unmissable experience. Lovely garden to drink in. Can't wait to return!

A must visit for anyone in the local area. Bring cash, you will be going back in time 50 years. Best cider around Bredon Hill. Extremely drinkable!

What can I say !Years ago was operated under special historical licensing laws, but I suspect those loopholes have now been closed. You have to visit this place, it doesn’t matter whether you like cider or not, it’s in a parallel universe !

What can I say. Get there before it closes as it is a heritage gem of a place. Check opening hours which are limited. Rustic charm unchanged for years. Good cider, nice beer garden. Toilets are worth a visit. Places lkke this are so rare ansd special.

Exactly the same as I remember it 30-odd years ago. A friendly welcome from the locals, a great value cider and a lovely setting. Genuinely one of a kind.

A real country treat to meet people and mix with some real characters. This is one of the last cider house's left with history.

As an American, I had to be taken to the "Monkey House" and pass the initiation. Lucky for me, I passed and am invited back at any time. That was 12 years ago, and every time I visit England, I visit Graham (the owner) and all the wonderful patrons at the Monk! This little neighborhood pub reminds me of what life must have been like back in 18th-century England. Folks gather round, drinking, telling stories, sharing their food (almost everyone brings food to share). My personal favorite food: Faggots. NO, NOT THOSE KIND (silly Yanks!). Faggots are equivalent to US meatballs with bread and spices. They're FANTASTIC! The local cheeses are also "brilliant", and you will not taste anything like it in stores. Now, the most important reason to visit the Monkey House: The Cider! Yep! Graham makes the world's best cider and pours it into an "Imperial" pint glass. If you're a "dandy", order a "Shandy", which is cider and lemonade. No joke: I have driven from London, 2.5 hours to Defford to take back 2 litres of cider with me on an airplane! It's that good! Plus, I guarantee you cannot drink more than 6 pints. I did . . . once . . . and I don't remember anything after the last sip! By the way, I am 6' 3" tall (191 cm) and weigh 200 pounds (14 stones)--so I'm not a "girly man"! Now, before you go, learn the rules! After all, you are visiting Graham's private home, so be respectful. The Monkey House Rules: - No swearing - No smoking - No moving furniture around in the fireplace cottage - No checks, credit cards, or IOUs (cash only) - Mingle and tell your stories! Violation of the rules will get you barred! I cannot say enough about the Monkey House, Graham, his lovely wife, Tapper (the dog), and all the patrons! I love this place!
