The Anchor Inn is a nice little pub situated by the river, offering a cosy dining experience. During hot weather, it can get quite busy as people from across the road come to enjoy the sun and swim in the river. The small car park often fills up, and visitors may need to park on the roadside, which can lead to parking tickets if not done properly. The food at the Anchor Inn is well-cooked, presented, and of good quality, providing a slightly more elevated menu than basic fare, with daily specials. However, the restaurant area can be quite small and cramped, especially in the conservatory. The service can be slow, as the bar staff also handle the restaurant, and they may not always do a food check-back. While the sea bass with crayfish dish was generally well-received, the crayfish were described as tiny, rubbery, and unpleasant. The overall dining experience can be quite noisy and expensive, with a bill of around £55-£56 for two people with one drink each.
