The Fox and Hounds
Oxford Rd, Donnington, NewburyBooked for Sunday lunch, the roast lamb that I had was excellent as was the loin of pork which my husband had, vegetables were al dente and very well flavoured, I even ate the parsnips, that is a first for me as I don’t usually go for them! The staff were all very pleasant and attentive. Merlot was very nice and beer acceptable. Wish we lived locally as this would become a regular haunt of ours, didn’t take our dog with us today but understand it would have been welcomed. We may well visit in future when in the area.

Ye Olde Red Lion
Green Ln, Chieveley, NewburyBeen coming Newbury Retrofestival for 5 years and decided this time our first night would eat out. Found this place through Google and pleased we did. It is a 15 minute walk from Showground and is just off the motorway to Oxford, London and Winchester, Southampton.
This is situated in a lovely little place called Chievely. Soon we walked in we were greeted by friendly staff and lovely atmosphere. Staff helpful. Plenty of seating inside and outside. They have rooms but didn't stay. All reasonably priced. The food was absolutely delicious and hot. I had the Red Thai Chicken Curry was really good. And my partner had the Marmite Sausages with mash and said it was lovely. People next to us also said their food was lovely as well.
The landlord and staff so lovely and chatty. The chefs certainly know how to cook.
No faults here and would definitely recommend and will be going again..

Greggs
J1, Moto Main Building, M4, Oxford Rd, Hermitage, A34Great to see Greggs popping up at motorway services. There was a big queue here but worth the wait. The chef was speedy with a continuous round of trays of pizza and sausage rolls to keep the punters fed. Coffee is good and reasonably priced compared with other coffee options at the services.
