A warm welcome awaited our arrival. They stock Guinness 0.0 which is very sensible at this time of year. We all had starters - most opted for pate. It was a good serving with toast.Not too big to spoil one's appetite but very satisfying and tasty. Then the main event was Christmas lunch. Often people express delight nowadays by saying wow! Following a family funeral service we held the wake at the Crooked Billet, a lovely country pub just a couple of miles away from the crematorium. Throughout we dealt with Jo who was incredible. Nothing was too much trouble, even when we asked if we might go 'off-menu' to make it fitting for our family.
