“It was my first visit to FP since 2008. Owner had changed. Decor had changed slightly (rowing memorabilia was gone). I think it used to be a free house and now it isn’t (at least Green King makes good ale). But this is still a solid neighbourhood pub with an honest feel to it. It was Sunday. I had the roast pork Sunday lunch (Yorkshire pudding first rate). My vegetarian daughter had the halloumi burger and gave it two thumbs up. Everything exactly as hoped for. Prices reasonable. Friendly very slightly bumbling uni-student servers. Strongły recommended as a first-class pub with a quirky name. Off the beaten track.”

“We made a reservation for Sunday at 12.30 lunch time to try their roast dinner.We arrived ahead of schedule, around 12.10. Despite this, the host was very welcoming and quickly showed us to our table.Once seated, we ordered two soft drinks (rhubarb lemonade and a ginger beer) and two roast dinners - pork belly and chicken.The drinks were brought first and then after another 5 minutes, the roasts came.Once we started eating, my partner told me that her chicken was very dry, and she asked the waiter to bring some extra gravy.My dish had a bit too much fat for my liking, although the taste was ok. I ate everything apart from the extra fat, as the picture shows.We did not receive a check-back whilst eating. However when we were getting ready to pay for the bill, we gave our feedback to the host.At this point, Vito - our host, was very professional and offered his apologies for the weak points of the dishes and from the original bill he deducted the chicken roast. We were very pleasantly surprised by this and whenever we'll be back around the area, we'll try one of their other dishes.I had originally planned to give 3 ⭐, however Vito has gone above and beyond, so just for him I'll give 4 ⭐”

“My wife found this pub as it was close to IWM Duxford where we were spending the day and the reviews, albeit variable, were mostly positive. Booked for a late Sunday lunch for five of us for 4.30, but arrived early at 3.45. Pub was super busy, and staff whizzing around, so we grabbed a drink at the bar and sat at a lovely garden seat by their pond brimming with fish. Spoke to a lovely chap called Joe, who couldn't have been more helpful. It was extremely hot so we asked if it was possible to be either on the terrace or by an open door. We were super chilled as we knew we were early. Joe was very courteous and found us a lovely table by open doors with a nice breeze. There was a birthday lunch going on with around 30 people in the restaurant, so Joe took our order quickly to get ahead of the big order. All food and service mainly by Joe but others as well was excellent and we had coffees outside to cool off. All in all a terrific experience. I feel its important to engage with people and treat them with respect and it usually pay you back often two fold. We were all tickled by The Tickell Arms. Thank you team Tickell”
