After a long drive with our dogs we found this cafe by the car park and it was dog friendly so a cup of coffee and a cake each was a lovely break all was delicious and toilet was very clean and well looked after, service was good. Will return for sure.

Lovely staff and premises. We had a very tasty and flavoursome latte in the morning, then returned for a cream tea on the afternoon. Best. Cream tea. Ever. 2 huge scones, generous amounts of cream and jam as well as pots of tea with approximately 8 cups on them all for £7 each. We would return again if in the area and would highly recommend you drop in if you are nearby.

Love going to the Lock Gates Cafe, best espresso in town and the best Sausage Roll just as good as the National Trust Cafe's, service fantastic and a great atmosphere inside and out, dog friendly as well.

Visited here for a cream tea. It was half an hour before closing time. The staff seemed the most miserable people I've ever come across; three girls who couldn't be grumpier. They clearly couldn't wait to get away. 10 minutes before closing the 'Henry' hoover came out and a bucket and mop placed right in front of us. I appreciate that it was nearing closing time but it's no excuse to drop standards. We were very happy with the food and drink.Parking: £1.00 per hour is the going rate here. Free parking after 4 or 5pm.

Came into today after a walk along the beach with my partner, just a short walk away from summerleaze beach. Warm and welcoming welcome from staff and a great atmosphere. Dogs welcome which we found really good especially with the weather turning we didn’t have to sit outside because we had our dog. My husband had the ham and cheese toastie which was very tasty, with a generous filling. And I tried there new soup they had available. It was delicious, homemade by one of the ladies that worked there. And also very good coffee and a great selection of cakes.

Enjoyed having coffee here several times. The staff are friendly and efficient. Only one criticism last time I visited the coffee and cakes were brought out quickly but there was a delay before the pancake arrived.

Really nice location by the canal with shady seating to keep out of the sun. Menu looks very inviting. Coffee was nice, food service was slow however, >30mins for pancakes.

Nice location, friendly staff but unfortunately my husbands flat white was cold and served in a glass beaker which we were not very keen on. My cappuccino however was very hot and in a cup and saucer.

Delicious food on offer with unique flavours. Although we sat outside due to it being full inside, the general vibe of the cafe was still really warm and welcoming. Will definitely be returning when we need a breakfast or lunch spot in Bude.Kid-friendliness: They had a number of menu items available in kids sizes which meant we could reduce food waste and pay a bit less as a result - win win!Dietary restrictions: We explained we had allergies to accommodate and were directed straight to the manager who was wonderfully helpful, confidently bringing out allergen information and going through all they could do with their menu items to make them suitable. It’s sadly not always the experience at cafes to be so well handled regarding allergies but they were really approachable, friendly and helpful and we were able to order something suitable for kids, allergy friendly, and yummy!

Always love coming here for breakfast or lunch. Doesn't disappoint with great coffee and cake too!

Stop here early morning, for a lovely breakfast, BAP and a cup of coffee, warm and friendly staff in place, welcomes, well-behaved dogs with open arms. The boys even had their bowl of water brought before I had a drink, which I thoroughly approve of.

Sat at a table, went and ordered, drinks served in takeaway cups without asking. People after us were told they were shut! (Dvdn though they weren’t) Stack chairs on tables next to you. Bitter tasting coffee, unwelcoming poor atmosphere. Avoid! Much better cafes in Bude.

In a prime location this cafe is perfectly place by the canal, and for visitors to Summerleaze Beach, and the library. Food is generally good, with some great options, and they make a great coffee. Prices are fair. This could easily get 5 star reviews, but for me (and my guests) it is slightly let down by the staff. On our recent visits it has felt a bit disorganised and not particularly friendly. I understand it is busy but….. On the most recent occasion we were two people and both went inside to make our choices, of course that meant we couldn’t be 100% sure of which outdoor table we would be at, and were left feeling this was a real inconvenience to the staff. Surely taking a name and noting it on the order would be an easy solution? As there was a long wait for food, and because the staff weren’t pleasant we decided just to have coffee. The coffee was nice, but delivered slopped into saucers with no apology or attempt to fix the problem. To be fair there has been better service on other days. On the plus side food has been good on the occasions we have actually eaten, and I would come back
