Gorgeous little pub. Full of character and olde worlde. Excellent booking on the phone for the 4 of us and our 2 dogs. Food came quickly and was delicious. However with only 1 serving at the bar and 1 lad serving every table, the service went downhill. We left in hr end as we were tired of waiting for our dessert order to be taken. We had tried to order at the bar but were told it would be taken at the table. Having our adhd/asd son with us made this stressful for us. Its a shame as its a lovely pub and the lad serving was doing his best and was clearly stressed.Parking: Small car park opposite

We visited without booking a table and were told they were fully booked. Luckily someone vacated a table shortly after we arrived so we were able to stay. Now I know why they were fully booked - the food is lovely and portions are huge. Great value for money and the staff are great. Will definitely be back! Booking is recommended.Vegetarian options: A few good vegetarian choices

Nice pub with good service but the food was definitely not as good as we hoped. Example the coleslaw just tasted of creamy mayonnaise so much so it was like eating a mouthful of mayo.

Wonderful quaint pub.Huge quantities of food that wasn't too bad. The venison pie was quite good, the curry was just like stew, no curry flavour.A pleasant lunch.

We love going to the Eliot, it's really an eating pub with fantastic food . There's a bar with two bar stools but the area is quite small. Out of season you can sit by the fire but once service begins there may not be a table unless you are

What I call a proper pub! Great food, beer, service and atmosphere. Pity it’s not my local, but always worth the journey from darkest Devon. ?
