“Wondering around we stumbled on The Crown up a side street and on the corner of residential square, it is reminiscent of small bars you would find in the outskirts of European towns. A nice selection of beers on tap from the brewer and owners Cornish Crown. For purely research purpose we tried the three cask beers and all were excellent, served at a good temperature and perfectly poured. The bar is small but not overly so, very clean and there were even fresh flowers on the tables. The outside seating is on the edge of the square and is a great sun trap. The young woman behind the bar was friendly and pleasant. Definitely worth seeking out if you are in Penzance, it is only a couple of minutes from the train/bus station. Thoroughly recommended and somewhere we will definitely be returning to when we are in the area.”

“We’ve been into The Sportsman’s Arms on a number of occasions but Saturday 2nd September was the first time that we had eaten there. We booked a table for 4 and as usual, we were warmly welcomed. The menu was lovely and there was something for everyone. We ordered baked Camembert to share and some crispy chilli beef as starters. There was the option of freshly made pizza on that evening, which 3 of us had and I can honestly say it was amongst the very best pizza I’ve eaten. Perfectly cooked, slightly crispy underneath and generously topped…… delicious! As we were all hungry we ordered a side of chips for the table too. Our eyes were very much bigger than our bellys and we ended up with boxes of pizza to take away. Excellent service, excellent selection of beers and spirits, excellent food. We will definitely eat here again.”

“Incredible hosts who made us feel very welcome and looked after. You can tell they genuinely care about their guests. Rooms are located above a lively pub where you'll instantly feel at home.Rooms are clean and well equipped. You can hear some noise from the pub but it isn't loud and they close at a reasonable time.Would definitely recommend!”

“A small 'proper job' pub that concentrates on good beer with a friendly atmosphere in the tradition of the local, with no frills or expensive menu. There is regular live music that caters for most tastes. Situated at the top of Causeway Head, there's a decent Chinese take away two doors up, a restaurant next door, a car park across the road within a few minutes to other pubs, cinema and food places.”
