We stayed in one of the cottages the bedrooms were lovely there were a upstairs bathroom also a shower plus downstairs toilet and a laundry room the kitchen had everything you needed the only problem was the kitchen floor was dirty and the living room was lacking in comfort and needed updating the worst problem was the rug which had turned up corners which was quite dangerous as it was a trip hazard for everyone it was also very dirty its a shame because it took away the lovely building and luxury of the rest of the place as many others have stated in there comments please as the owners do take notice but don't actually do anything about it you have a lovely place so take a little time an get rid of that rug and it would be a lot nicer place which I would love to recommend

We stayed in the large cottage, in short it was brilliant, 3 big double bedrooms, 1 large single bedroom, 2 bathrooms, one with a very long bath and large powerful shower. There's a very well equipped kitchen with a large aga, a decent sized dining table. There is also a massive wood burning fireplace in an equally impressive living room, also a sunroom looking out on to a lawn with plenty of wildlife, lots of rabbits, hares, squirrels and birds. Just outside the living room, there is a hot tub in a private area. All this is in a lovely, quiet part of the world. If you want a great Indian restraunt/takeaway, there is one about 15mins away which is superb, spice valley.

Under new management! We had a spectacular stay at Love Lady Shield Hotel. It is in a picturesque and peaceful location with beautiful views and the sound of a bubbling stream running through it. You can relax in their cozy lounge or take a walk through the vast grounds. We stayed in the spacious and modern cottage but they also have newly renovated rooms in the main hotel. This is the ideal location for a few days "away from it all" in a gorgeous but luxurious setting.

Lovely refurbishment throughout. Super comfy beds with soft furnishings set in a beautiful setting.

Refugees were causing a problem. Two officers received injuries requiring hospital treatment.

1 star is too many. Pot holes and drive all pulled up creepy ground workers! Carpets stained, no items to wash pots. No clue of where to park and being told to move the car all the time. Digging up early hours when you’ve paid nearly £200 a night! Wouldn’t recommend needs major work!

Absolutely lovely cotrage, very spacious and clean,I would definitely book again. The only reason for giving 4* is that hot tub didn't look very clean and kitchen is not equipped with too many pans or enough plates of the same sort (but manageable nevertheless).

Do not stay here at all!! In breach of consumer law and will be taken forward. Absolutely appalled at everything a full family with children were mislead and told complete lies about amenities and several different things about the property that was dishonest. The third party that work on behalf of the owners of the property are completely unprofessional and do not know anything about the properties at all they tell complete lies just to get people to book. We drove two and a half hours to get there and had to leave straight away with a child at 10pm. Disgusting.

Needs taking offline for several weeks to rectify basic issues. Signs of damp (stains & missing plaster), stained carpets, over-soft mattresses need replacing (unless you like to feel the springs), cheap towels need replacing for some that don’t deposit white fluff everywhere, fixtures & fittings need fixing: there are missing window handles, missing toilet roll holders, loose toilet cisterns, loose shower rails. And please give us some useable kitchen utensils, eg sharp knifes or a sharpener. There are however plenty of flies around. PS. The hotel itself is undergoing extensive renovation for the foreseeable future, and the driveway has numerous potholes so do take care if you end up staying here.

We stayed here as a couple to enjoy a well earned night away from our family. It was not great. The hotel was run down and dingy. The location has little to offer, and it was hard to find the hotel. The small car park meant we had to park next to awful snelling bins. We didn't dare eat our evening meal there, which was lucky, as the breakfast was awful. Also, the staff looked fed up and miserable. The heating didn't work as we were told it was on a timer, so we were freezing cold at night. We didn't miss it when we left. The room wasnt a bad size but the mattress was very hard. We were happy to only have booked one night. Sorry, but we wouldn't recommend.

Our daughter booked a night for us at this lovely hotel with a 7 course tasting dinner and overnight stay with breakfast. The food was absolutely first class, accompanied by very fine wines. The service was very, very good. We would most definitely return.

At the beginning of November Seven of us (Including a 2+ month old) stayed for 4 nights in the Clifton Cottage. This was the second time we had stayed here, although it had changed because of the Hotel next to it closing, we found that everything run smoothly. We ere given instructions by email regarding the key and the key safe. The cottage was always warm which was a blessing with the cold days we had. The cottage was clean. If there was a downfall the WiFi wasn't that good and there was only 6 cups, plates etc. I think that you need at the very least 8 of everything if not 10 in my opinion.

Booked our visit at the beginning of September via Secret Escapes, and received confirmation. Turned up on Sunday 5pm as planned, to discover the hotel shut up, drive blocked. We have phoned and emailed but had no response; it appears the owners have disappeared without trace, trying to escape their personal liability. Appreciate they must have gone bust, but an email to all booked guests to warn them not to travel would have been helpful. We have lost £180, bitterly disappointed.
