Lovely location and very quiet due to the trees and well maintained garden that surrounds the hotel. Bed was very comfortable with high quality linens and duvet. Breakfast offered a good selection of fruits and cereals with excellent cooked options. Public areas were really pleasant and offer a great view of the garden. Very close to Bowness with good shops and some excellent bars and restaurants. The only negative comment….the bedrooms could do with a little maintenance. Only saw two but repainting and re carpeting would improve things. Really appreciated the friendly and welcoming staff.

If you are looking for a hotel in the Lake District then you should stay at Burn How gardenhotel. All of the staff were very professional, efficient and super friendly. Our room was really spacious, the huge wardrobe was a pleasant surprise. Large bathroom. Everything was spotlessly clean. Very comfortable bed and pillows. The main part of the building included a reception area, lounge and breakfast area. Breakfast choices were enough to please anyone. 5 minute walk into the lovely town of Bowness. You'll be spoilt for choice for somewhere to eat and drink. Try the Tap room, The flying pig and Royal Oak. We can highly reccomend them. Big thank you to the staff at the hotel for making our stay perfect...

The hotel was so restful , relaxing but close to Bowness lakeside, the room with a balcony was ideal, the breakfast superb and the staff were so friendly and eager to help with a special mention to Jo and Mellisa.

Beautiful location, kind and friendly staff. Very comfortable room. you also can park a car right in front of the room, it’s very good, because you can see it and take your belongings whenever you need. Breakfast was excellent.

Perfect location for access to Lake Windemere. Grounds were beautiful. Stayed in one of the "chalet" type rooms. Room had a very musty smell. Told to just leave the windows open. This did not help. Very comfortable bed. Basic bathroom with basic toiletries - bar soap and shampoo only. Very good breakfast.

Returned to Burn How after approx 20 year gap. The ladies (we didn’t see men around the place but it could be just the 3 nights we stayed it was staffed by ladies) who who are running the hotel were superb and professional. The breakfasts were absolutely delicious with high quality ingredients and delivered with impeccable timings. The cold buffet offered a great selection of fruits etc. It is a pity the hotel does not provide evening meals but we note they can provide packed lunches and sandwiches. This forced us to eat out and had two lovely dining experiences but Bowness on Windermere was so busy (last weekend if school holidays and hot sunny weather) you have to pre-book.

What a fabulous hotel. We only stayed the one night but will definitely be returning in the future. The whole place was spotless, room was lovely and spacious and a modern bathroom. Gardens were stunning just wish we had more time to explore them as there were some fab seating areas. Staff were absolutely lovely. Parking was great as each area had designated parking so you knew there would be enough spaces. Breakfast - the best that I have had staying in any hotel. Fresh fruit, yogurts, cereals etc and a wide range of cooked options. Food was freshly cooked and exceptional. 100% recommend this hotel

The Burn How Garden Hotel is an absolutely superb place to stay, when in the lovely Lake District. Our room was so spacious, comfortable and well appointed, that it would have been so easy to get settled for a very long stay. Our balcony overlooked the garden area, and beyond to the enchanting secret garden. The gardens are so tastefully cultivated, that it is a real joy to wander through them, even in the rain! The welcoming and friendly people who run the hotel make you feel at home immediately. The dining/bar area is the height of comfort & relaxation. The breakfasts are brilliant - plenty of choice and well presented. There is also guaranteed parking, which is another plus in this part of the Lakes. In a nutshell, I can only recommend the Burn How as ticking every box as far as hotels go. It simply is a perfect place to stay, and I'd have no hesitation in returning at any time. 100% recommended.

I don't think I can add more to the wonderful reviews already posted.....this is a very special place indeed. We arrived home today after a 5 night stay, everything about our holiday was what we hoped for and more. The hotel is a beautiful little haven of gardens and wildlife yet surprisingly so close to all of the amenities Bowness has to offer. Wonderful breakfasts, comfortable rooms and a team of staff who went out of their way to make the stay extra special. A special mention for Dorothy, we so enjoyed our chats, and also thanks to Linda for her local knowledge and recommendations. We most definitely hope to return and our thanks to you all

Felt unwelcome from the beginning, the lady at the reception telling me that I cannot park the car in the parking place where I wanted. We booked a garden view room and accepted to upgrade to family room, which was presented as being better and more comfortable. Unfortunately the family room presented to us had a very unpleasant smell, impossible to stay or sleep there. Not to mention that the whole group of family rooms look like a group of concrete containers, similar to those seen on a building site. We asked the lady to change the room, even giving up the so-called 'upgrade' and she offered us a tiny room in the attic of the main building. The room was not suitable for a couple, not to mention a couple like us, in our seventies and eighties, having to climb three flights of stairs with the luggage. But, apparently, that was all she had. We were too tired after driving such a long way to the Lakes, so we accepted it. That night was a torture. The bed was most probably a single, presented as a double. The next day, in the morning, we told the manager that we are going to leave the hotel because it's impossible to get some rest in that attic room, and she offered to show us another family room. The same nasty smell. 'Chemicals' - she said. In the end, we've been offered a room in the main house (actually it was the room booked by us initially, before the so-called upgrade). This room was fine. The breakfast is good, a good selection of fresh fruits, but the service is very slow, most probably they are understaffed or not properly managed. In the end, it was quite a long discussion to have reimbursed the sum for the upgrade, not to mention that the lady in charge told us that in the future we should book directly with them, not via booking.com. For sure it will not be any future booking with them for us.
