Couldn't fault the curry. 6 of us with all different curries, everyone enjoyed theirs. Poppadoms to start and chicken tandoori balti for main with rice. Really tasty. I thought the staff were a bit miserable and didn't look or sound like they wanted to be there.

Been coming here since I was a child, but rest assured I won't be coming back again.Rang up this evening to reserve a table and was told bluntly to ring back tomorrow.I won't be ringing back at all, shocking service.

I’ve been here before and the food was lovely, although the service was poor we decided to return. We was seated and ordered our food which was fine. Popadoms came and were burnt but we didn’t say anything and ate, starters were lovely no fault with them apart from the service. The waiter just dropped my plate infront of me and me and my partner just looked at eachother like what the hell. Cleared and mains came, naan bread was gritty like it had sand in it and my curry had a black hair in it! When I mentioned this to the waiter he informed me it was from the brush for the naan breads which was not the case as my naan hadn’t even touched the plate! Inspecting my plate as if I’m a liar, I have blonde hair and so does my partner! We will never be returning and I will not recommend this place to anyone else. Absolutely disappointing and no apology given.Parking: Have to park a 5 min walk away from the building.

This a pretty poor restaurant and I thinkTwo stars is generous. From the low quality high water content meat and generic sauces to the extremely gruff, seemingly senior, waiter my visit was not very enjoyable.I’d avoid it if I were you.* Note also they do not provide itemised printed bills which are often needed for purposes of expenses

I have been there many times in the past, never had a bad meal. They are always consistent with the quality of food and service.Just ignore the old decor of the whole restaurant.

Me and my partner have been to the Shaha a few times and each time we have given it a few chances as the food was really nice. This time we recommended a meal with friends and wow we got there and never felt so alienated. Waited ages to be served, constantly felt dismissed. We’ve always received really poor and rude customer service this was nothing new. This time we have decided not to return due to the staff walking away half way through ordering. The food was nothing but water and garlic. I never thought I’d write a review about this place but you have lost a couple of loyal customers who would have recommended to many.

Wow just wow from the moment we walked in the waiters were rude. From arriving we got told to sit and wait we weren’t offered a menu or a drink and god forbid a smile. The starters were meh with really awful side salad (the weirdest lettuce ) the mains were tasteless and all our curries looked the same. The waiting staff don’t smile or engage and are very rude. The shocker was when the waiter clicked his fingers at me to pass him my unused spoon when clearing the table, food was tasteless along with the customer service. Don’t ignore the negative reviews . Will not be returning.

Very nice Indian restaurant. Took a chance on it based on recent poor reviews and we were pleased we did. Service was very good and pleasant, albeit the restaurant was very quiet given it was a Tuesday night. Had Poppadoms and accompanying platter to start (basically the usual stuff). For Main Course, I had the Chicken Tikka Pathia and I really enjoyed it. My partner had the Vegetable Korma and she enjoyed that too. The Garlic Naan was very nice and the boiled rice was, unsurprisingly, boiled rice. For that and a pint/cider each way £40 and we thought that was more than reasonable in the current market. We would definitely come again on our next visit to Carlisle.

The restaurant is overpriced. Food and service both are pathetic.Staff is rude and needs training in hospitality.

Booked a meal as some family were visting for the weekend. From the momenet we arrived we didn't feel welcome. We were seated at our table and ended up ording our drinks amd a round of poppadoms from the bar as no member of staff came over. Somebody came and handed out menus and we were finally able to order. We ordered another round of poppadoms to be delivered with tje starters as my nephew only wanted these as a starter. The starters came out fairly quickly and were great but after that it went downhill even more. One of the waiters removed a full pickle tray from the table instead of the empty ones. When we asked for a fresh one we were told it would come. We ordered a few drinks for the table. We waited over 20 minutes for the drink to be delivered along with our main courses but nothing came. We noticed people who had been seated long after we arrived getting their food and drinks before us. In the end we decided to settle up for what we had eaten and leave. If there would have been a mention of time of the mains coming then we maybe would have stayed but we didnt even get any form of appology. I would understand if it was overly busy but there were only a few other tables in.
