This has probably been one of the nicest meals 4 of us have had recently. The starters are good, mains were delicious. It's pub style but it's nice pub food - not the same stuff you'll get in every other pub round here.

Perfect in every way. The food was amazing; the service was amazing and the place is amazing. Brilliant, thank you !! Went on new years day, couldn't fault anything.

Stumbled upon The Royal Yew, great find & would encourage anyone to make the effort to go.Lovely experience, good food good service. Tables are well spaced & the staff very engaging. All added up to a great lunch at an unexpected venue. We’ll done all the staff.

Wonderful location, traditional and not so traditional British food, this meat lover loved their "Cow Pie"!

Had not been to The Royal Yew at Dean for a long time and boy we were not disappointed, visited for our daughters birthday celebration. The food was beautiful (highly recommend the Cow Pie), there was a good selection of beers, wines and spirits, staff are very friendly, helpful and professional. A lovely cosy pub with a great atmosphere. Cannot recommend it highly enough.

A fine place to dine in a warm, convivial atmosphere with a couple of guys jamming in the background on guitar and banjo.Parking: Limited parking.

The cow pie was really nice, very filling so maybe don’t eat too much before hand! The BBQ burger was nice, but didn’t have the wow factor. The service & staff was a 10/10. Really helpful and friendly.

Went here with the family, it had been a while since we last visited. Food was absolutely amazing, service very good and a great pint of Loweswater Gold on tap. Perfect night

Had been this restaurant once before in March 2023 and it was wonderful. Absolutely spectacular. There half a cow pie was delicious and their Brie wedges mouthwatering. However this time was dreadful. The starters was cateright’s finest selection of cheap country rage frozen. My girlfriend had the Lebanese flat bread and it’s salt and pepper chicken. Both come frozen from one of Cumbria’s biggest food suppliers and was dreadful. The tempura veg was straight out of a packet and more like buttermilk and greasy… Deserts the brownie tasted like just flower? There is more moisture in flower if I’m honest. Cheesecake had freezer sweat. (Beads of water running down from where it had been frozen) cremebrule was actually tasteful.. I know a lot of people read trip advisor reviews and take them with a pinch of salt but, I’m a chef and have raved over this place since my first visit and have been gasping to get back. You can imagine my disappointment. I’d also like to say it’s my first review…

Been coming here for many years. The food is good. Lots of choice. New management havent really changed the atmosphere thankfully. Staff are efficient. The number of dogs in the eating areas does question the hygiene of the place. It would be better if dogs were restricted to the bar area. Parking is tricky at weekends.

Fantastic meal. Staff were all very friendly and nothing was too much . You may have to book. It can get busy.

We had Sunday lunch here today. Booked last night online which was easy and they sent confirmation email. When we arrived they spotted that one of our party was using crutches so they swapped us to a table closer to the entrance. Very thoughtful. We all had Roast dinners, I had beef and half of my wife’s turkey. Both were delicious, plenty on the plate and a big dish of veg, including cauliflower cheese. Great food, good service and excellent value. We will be back.
