OK just - chips were on the menu but we got mash - lots of pings going in from the Kitchen - probably a lot of microwaving going on? The pie was good but the veg was questionable - good beer and wine though - there was an unlit fire - would have helped the atmosphere if it was alight?

Came here on Christmas Eve for a lovely meal. We were welcomed and looked after very well. The beer was excellent and we tried the Shanky's Whip in a coffee which was gorgeous. I've bought a bottle for myself now! The Christmas meal was so delicious. Luckily our starters weren't available so we didn't have one having been advised the dinner was so big we didn't need one. How true! We had a massive and gorgeous dinner and couldn't fit another thing in. Apart from the lovely Irish Coffee. What a lovely restaurant. We heard you had some drama there lately so really hope you can make a good go of this wonderful pub. It's excellent. Good luck!

I recently visited Royal Oak Lindale and was greatly disappointed by the overall experience. The atmosphere , drinks and food were pleasant, but it was overshadowed by glaring issues regarding the staff. Throughout my visit, it was painfully evident that there weren’t enough team members on duty to handle the volume of customers. The existing staff were visibly overworked, rushing around to attend to tables, take orders, and handle multiple tasks simultaneously. This resulted in prolonged wait times and a general sense of chaos. It's disheartening to witness hardworking individuals pushed to their limits due to understaffing. It's unfair to both the staff, who are obviously struggling, and the customers who expect a certain level of service when they visit. The term "modern-day slavery" may be strong, but the sheer exhaustion and strain on the faces of the employees painted a distressing picture. It's concerning to see a business seemingly prioritize profits over the well-being of its staff, as evident in the unsustainable workload imposed on them. A pub is not just about the drinks; it's about the experience. And unfortunately, the overworked staff significantly marred what could have been an enjoyable evening. I sincerely hope that Royal Oak and Robinsons take immediate steps to address this issue by hiring more staff or implementing better scheduling practices to ensure a healthier and more efficient work environment. Until improvements are made in staffing and workload management, I regret to say that I won't be returning to Royal Oak.

Beautiful pub in a wonderful area. Food was absolutely delicious, the steak was huge and was cooked to perfection. The couple running the place were so warm and welcoming, really lovely. I will definitely be coming

We had a lovely time at the Royal Oak. The owner was very friendly and made us feel at home. The roast was very tasty and a very generous portion! They were also able to accommodate a nut allergy. Highly recommend- we’d come here again.Dietary restrictions: Accommodated nut allergy.Parking: Very convenient parking.

I will try to keep this short and sweet, but it will be hard. Firstly…. - The bar/dining area and the toilets are spotless, absolutely spotless. - The hosts - Matt and his beautiful partner….. couldn’t do enough.. New custodians I believe, and they are clearly not messing around. They were wonderful people and they couldn’t do enough for us and the other diners. They knew when and how often to check on things, whilst also allowing diners to eat, chat, relax and enjoy the food, drink & ambience. - The chef…. I think I heard his name was Luke. You served hot, well presented and delicious food…. hats off to you Luke, well done! You are a very talented chef, and you produced some food today that was not only exceptionally generous in portion size, but absolutley delicious. - The drinks…. A perfect pint of dizzy blonde… again, faultless. I love nothing more than finding hidden gems like this, and I feel that we have been extremely lucky to do so, now it’s in the hands of these very talented and hardworking people. I wish you all the luck in the world for your time at the Royal Oak, and I can only hope that word gets around about what they will be in for when they visit… Seriously, seriously good and will 100% visit again. Andy & family Table of 4 - 13:30 - 17/12/23 Try it guys, preferably on a very very empty stomach! x

Called in recently after having been for a walk nearby. Really good Sunday lunch in a very nice pub. Excellent service and decent beer too.

My husband and I came to visit the Royal Oak whilst on our honeymoon in the local area. The pub had a lovely cosy feel on arrival and staff appeared friendly. We were excited to try the pie of the day and had a conversation with who we believe was the owner/landlord about ordering the last 2 pies! Our drinks were quickly served with a very nice Big Sur IPA that my husband was impressed with.We could tell there wasn’t a lot of staff, however the pub was not full or that close to being very busy so expected food to come quite promptly.Unfortunately we ended up waiting over an hour with no sign of food or staff checking on us or making us aware of any delays despite walking past us several times.I finally asked how much longer for the food and then after a few minutes was informed by the owner that our food order had not been put through to the kitchen!!Although given an initial apology this was not followed up with any real empathy for how long we had been waiting or to say when any food could possibly be ready for us or something complimentary whilst we waited again. Nothing. We decided to leave having not eaten and feeling bitterly disappointed as we had been looking forward to the pies. Because of this we didn’t find anywhere else to eat and ended up back at our hotel eating chips at 10pm! Not the romantic honeymoon evening we had hoped for.

Went here for my wife's birthday, and it was perfect. The food is amazing - the best pub meal around. Between the party we had the steak pie, the beef dinner, and the Cumberland sausage. The food was absolutely gorgeous, and the helpings were gargantuan! We've had their fish and chips in the past, and that was really nice too - the fish was as big as the entire plate, lol. The staff were really friendly and attentive, couldn't fault them one bit. We will be back.

Such a lovely pub. Super friendly staff, amazing food choices. Food is big portions but super tasty. Staff attentive and polite. Not too busy and easy to find. Highly recommend. Suitable for couples, families and big groups.

Went to Royal Oak for Sunday lunch. Generous portions and good value for money. The proprietors were very helpful, charming and attentive without being overbearing. The pub is also well presented, clean and appears like a "proper" pub, unpretentious in nature.A very enjoyable experience and, if we visit the area again, we will definitely be returning.

One of the best meals we have had in a long time. ? We had the mushrooms to start and the Thai curry. All fresh ingredients, nicely presented and large portions. ? Jade took care of us today and glad to know The Royal Oak is open 7 days a week. Fantastic chef ?‍? hats off to you!! We will be back..

What an absolute gem!!! Great food, great value, delicious drinks and wonderful people, the landlord Andrew couldn't be nicer and more accommodating. Matt and Jade were also a delight and nothing was too much trouble, really attentive service with a smile and charm. I didn't get to meet the chef, but how they can produce this consistent quality of food at these prices is beyond me. Outstanding value, it was deservedly busy for a reason and I would recommend booking in advance. Dog friendly to boot! We stumbled across it by accident, we would make a special journey in the future. Great vibes, exactly how pubs should be!!!!
