It seems to be an attractive little place to have something to eat and drink, but sadly me and my husband didn't get in the last time we went.
When we asked for a table, a young waitress said that there was no table. Despite the nice, sunny weather (10/10/2024), we were not offered to sit outside either which is a shame but we found another nice café at the opposite.
As it happened for the second time (once 2 years ago), we probably won't try to have a lunch there anymore as it is not really a good feeling to be sent out.
Rarebit, quiche and scones are all excellent!
Vegetarian options: Good vegetarian options available - including a main special too
A small late afternoon lunch and a spot of tea....when in Grasmere for gingerbread, it would be rude to not call in here, too. Just remember, traditional tea needs a strainer.
Such a charming diner and the lady serving us was a sweetheart.
amazing
A must visit if in
Visited here 2 years ago for afternoon tea and it was so good we decided to visit again this time for breakfast, which was delicious and even better than our first visit! If you like quaint villages, set in beautiful locations, then Grasmere should definitely be on your list, and if you want a 'cherry on top' of your visit, go to Baldry's it really doesn't disappoint!
Parking: Bigish car park on the edge of Grasmere which overlooks the lake, 5 minute walk to the centre of Grasmere village where all the shops and cafes are. Street parking too but that's quite limited.
Great food, good flavor and presentation, highly recommended.
The best tea I have ever ?
Highly recommend
Real lake district gem, delicious food and real leaf tea served in China cups. Friendly staff - a must visit!

Stopped in after a strenuous hike, very dog friendly. Immediately gave a treat
We always eat scones in England. We found these to be excellent, very juicy, but often they are very dry and crumbly.
Plus a milkshake
Café gets an A+
We loved Baldry’s so much we came back to Grasmere to eat there a second time! Although their afternoon tea is where they shine, we actually ended up having lunch there twice. Their egg mayonnaise and corned beef with horseradish mustard were both delicious. Obviously their tea and scones were a must. I got the fruit scone with lemon curd (pictured). It’s also worth mentioning that they had very clean bathrooms, making it a perfect midday stop. We will certainly return if we are ever back in the Lake District!
Lemon meringue pie to die for. Which you probably will do if you eat a whole slice. Superb food and charming service. Lovely atmosphere
One of the best cafes we have been to! Delicious cakes and cheese scone with a very generous serving for value. We were so impressed with this place and will be recommending it!!
Lovely cafetiere of special blend coffee, cup of nice mocha, yummy coffee and walnut cake and the best homemade treacle tart I have had since my mums when I was a kid ?, Good service and lovely sitting out the front watching world go by, price good compared with some lakes cafes
