“The Punch Bowl Inn is a charming spot with delicious food and very good service. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, and they even provide coloring sheets for children, which is a nice detail.
The children’s menus are homemade and carefully prepared, and everything we tried was excellent. The cheese soufflé was outstanding, and the cheesecake was just as delicious.
It’s definitely worth the detour. Highly recommended!”

“Enjoyable experience. Stopped off for a drink and pack of crisps with the in laws. No complaints from me.”
“After looking at various venues in and around Kendal area for ur wedding we decided to get married at Carus green golf club in March this year. We picked this place due to its great location for local guests, the amazing views, cleanliness and friendly helpful staff. We met up with Margarita to discuss plans and she was so helpful, the communication was brilliant throughout and she couldn’t do enough to help. On the day everything was perfect. Margarita and her team made sure the day ran smoothly and we couldn’t thank her enough. The food was amazing for our main meal and the evening buffet. We stayed in the Carus house for two nights for the wedding and it was absolutely stunning- would highly recommend if you are getting married there or for a general stay. We had plenty of space to get ready, the property is cleaned to a high standard and with comfy beds and it was very calming watching the golfers in the morning with a view over the green. Thank you again to Margarita, the chefs, bar staff and cleaners and all the other staff involved for making our wedding and stay so memorable”

“The Brexit sinking ship forced me to find solace in the grog, only to end up in a vegan restaurant, might as well have fed me to a tribe of cannibals. In all seriousness though the remainders are worse than chain smokers, who at least smoke outside and do not prop up the bar talking about the bygone days of EU compliant sausages ;)”

“I rang up to check if they would be showing football, I was informed the match would be on. When I arrived they had multiple screens, plenty of room to sit, and a beer garden. The people running the place are very friendly, I found a little corner to watch the football, during halftime I decided to look at the food menu, everything £9.95 with plenty of choices, the helpful staff chatted with us as I'd asked about different things on the menu, Lasagna was recommended, my partner went with that, I had Fish Chips and peas. It was all very nice and we we're treated well.
I like what they're doing here, having a menu where all the food is priced the same and at a cost where people on low incomes can go out and eat without breaking the bank.
I had a nice time, and if I'm that way again I'll take my dad in to watch football and get him lunch.”

“A Hidden Gem – The Perfect Post-Walk Pub! After a long day of exploring the beautiful Lake District and soaking in the fresh air, The Whistling Pig was exactly what we needed – a warm, welcoming pub just a stone’s throw from our caravan. It’s a total game-changer having such a fantastic pub on site – especially when you’re not in the mood to cook after a full day outdoors. The atmosphere was spot on – relaxed, cosy, and buzzing with friendly energy. The staff were absolutely brilliant: super friendly, attentive, and clearly passionate about what they do. We instantly felt at home. And now for the food… just wow. We ordered the sharing platter, and it definitely deserves a warning label – this could easily feed a family of four, or at least two seriously hungry adults! Every item was delicious, clearly made with care, and full of flavour. We left rolling back to our caravan, happy, full, and already planning our next visit. Even if you’re not staying at the Windermere site, The Whistling Pig is well worth a visit – whether it’s for a couple of drinks, a hearty meal, or just to unwind after a day in the Lakes. A real gem – thank you to the team for such a memorable evening!”
