A very enjoyable first experience at Spice Essence. Immaculately clean with top class service and good atmosphere. The curries we ordered were well prepared and so very tasty. Special mention for the Peshawar naan bread we ordered, so light, sweet and moorish. Thank you Spice Essence for a delightful evening, thoroughly recommend and we will definitely be back.

We have visited this curry house before and it was ok. The meals we had last night were very poor. We have lived in Birmingham and London and are experienced in Bali and curry culture. The Balti was tiny pieces of Tandoori chicken and smothered in a tasteless sauce. The Saag dish, again had tiny pieces of Tandoori chicken which was bulked out by what seemed like a tin of chickpeas. The meal as clearly not cooked using fresh chicken and was very disappointing. Maybe this was a bad day at the office and the sit in versions of these meals would be better.....let's hope so as it is the only curry house for miles around.

The place hasn't changed since we started coming years ago, definitely no frills, but the food is pretty consistent. This was our first takeaway experience and we probably would do it again. We ordered a tandoori mixed grill, saag bhaji side, chips and naan to share. The tandoori mixed grill was really good and cooked just right. The chips and naan had suffered a little bit from steaming in the foil carton (chips) and bag (naan) but still good. The saag bhaji side tasted really nice but it was poor value at over £5 for a couple of tablespoons in the bottom of a small foil carton. Service was good and 20% off for takeaway. Not sure if they deliver. I think to enjoy the food at its freshest it's probably better to sit in the restaurant but for comfort it was really nice to eat at home instead.

We made a late booking & on arrival there was no greeting, just told thats your table in the corner, the waiter was very brusque. We ordered drinks & food the waiter knocked over a glass of Prosseco & had the cheek to say it was our fault...he didn't help to mop the spill up just got a load of napkins & gave them to ourselves with a very quiet & reluctant sorry. Food was good but the rudeness far outweighed the dining experience. I would recommend the food but not the service, probably best for a takeaway.
After seeing some of the reviews we were a little skeptical about dining here but I’m so glad we did! Staff all very friendly and the food was amazing, so much so we returned the following weekend!

This is possibly the worst indian i’ve ever eaten in my life. All the food was bland and full of grease. Pakora was made from ready to defrost chicken deep fried, swimming in grease and squishy, undercooked batter. Cheese naan had no cheese in it, mint sauce tasted off and was poured all over the bag. Service was shocking upon pickup as well.

Called to order with and asked about allergens, weren’t knowledgeable or clear, had no patience, and told by chap on the phone only vegetarian dishes gluten free, and I while confirming with partner the order they said they were very busy so to call back when decided and proceeded to hang up on me. No wonder reviews talk of rude service. Won’t be trying.
