Number 44
44 Main St, Kirkby Lonsdale, CarnforthA compact but welcoming cafe, spotlessly clean, and serving some very tasty food. The staff are friendly, helpful and solicitous, but never intrusive - they're just magically there when you need them. I cannot speak highly enough of them (or the Cumberland sausage bap I consumed).Overall an excellent experience. I called in on a whim, but would make a point of revisiting whenever I'm in Kirby Lonsdale.Wheelchair accessibility: There's level access from the street, and they had no problems in accommodating me in a powered wheelchair, although users with mobility issues may wish to note that simply for reasons of space, no wheelchair accessible space or disability adaptations have been available in the toilets.

The Lunesdale Arms
Main St, TunstallHad the braised beef and blue cheese pie, it was sublime! Even came with a blackbird pie steamer which was a beautiful touch. My wife had the roast beef dinner, this again was delicious. Service was a little slow to take order and get drinks hence the 3 stars. Would happily return.

The Red Dragon
Main St, Kirkby Lonsdale, CarnforthStayed for one night for a whistle-stop visit to the Lakes, followed by football at Fleetwood. The hotel is ideally suited for both, as well as the Yorkshire Dales and Kirby Lonsdale is a very pretty village. Parking isn’t great in the town, with only 1 hour permitted between 8am and 6:30pm. We arrived at just after 6:30 pm and managed to find the last space around the corner with both car parks nearby full. I moved the car in the morning and got one of the few spaces remaining in the Market Square. The Red Dragon was great to stay in and we were very happy with the room and the provision of extras such as water, biscuits and a fan. Slept well, although the duvet was a little thick for me in the summer. The only real downside was that the water was barely warm in the morning and too cold to bath or shower so really I should have reduced my rating but hoping this was a one-off as not mentioned before. Sky Sports in the room would have been nice too. Food in the bar was good, pretty basic, but ticked our boxes and breakfast was good too. . We would definitely stay again to use as a base for exploring the area.

The Royal Barn Kirkby Lonsdale
New Rd, Kirkby Lonsdale, CarnforthAlways a favourite when we visit KL. Often we find that brewery / beer focussed places have other options as an afterthought, but we particularly love that here seems to do everything well, so non-beer drinkers can really enjoy it too.On our latest visit, we called in late morning for coffee, and enjoyed an excellent cappuccino. I then tried the Devil's Bridge IPA (keg), which is now my preferred KL Brewery offering. My wife ordered a pinot blush rose wine (white zinfandel offered as another option). It was quiet when we first arrived but got very busy later in our visit, as we stayed for a couple of hours. Throughout our visit, the atmosphere was good and staff were friendly and efficient. We didn't eat but we saw food delivered to other tables and it looked very good.

Would highly recommend it to anyone.Mr MorrisRooms: A few to choose from and all satisfactory.Walkability: 2 mins walk from centre.Food & drinks: Food is really good value, and you get lots for your money.Sells the usual drinks; but also has its own Kirkby Lonsdale brewery drinks fantastic. Avanti Restaurant and Bar
Bar Avanti, 57 Main St, Kirkby Lonsdale, CarnforthThe service was rapid, friendly and the waitresses were polite and professional. Overall the food was excellent (fantastic fish). The deserts were good but not up to the quality of the main. The wine list was good with some very reasonably priced good wines.

The Snooty Fox
33 Main St, Kirkby Lonsdale, CarnforthCalled in for a drink on a rainy afternoon. Made to feel welcome. Nice atmosphere. Food looked good although we didn't sample it. Absolutely great value for the drinks, must be cheapest around. Tuesdays a pint of cask ale was £2.75 and and a G&T with tonic was £3.90. Don't forget to ask of card whereby each pint you order is marked and the seventh is free.
