I was blown away by the food at The Tavern - I ordered the beef and ale pie and it surpassed all expectations. The service was great and excellent ambience. Would definitely recommend ?

Lunch at the Tavern today. The air temperature indoors was cold, too cold to be comfortable and relaxing. The food was also on the cool side of warm.We asked for tea/coffee to end with (to warm us up). We were told that neither was available as the machine was broken!!! A kettle would have made a hot cup of tea!!!Very disappointed.

We had booked a large table and I had phoned ahead to pre-order a week before mentioning some changes to original number. When we arrived today I was told that no extra people could be accommodated even though the pub was empty and had phoned to say we would be more. We were told we had to give up some seats and people had to sit in the bar. No extra people came. Staff were surly throughout making it difficult to order drinks. Attempts were made to take plates away before people were finished. Definitely not going back.

Really bad meal - food fried in oil that tasted old. Pate grey and tasteless. Brown salad. Expensive and staff were rude when politely complained. Avoid!

Took a day trip out to silverdale cove, then a walk upto the fairy steps. Googled 'top rated places to eat near me and 'The Tavern at Hale' came up number 1 so we decided we'd try it out.Great place, nice decor, very friendly staff especially the lady that took our orders and chatted about our tattoos.I went for a smaller plate of pulled pork and cheese melt with cauliflower soup (& a pint of course). The Mrs had a tuna mayo sandwich and chips.The food was amazing and for what looks like a smallish plate of food i was stuffed ! The tuna mayo was packed with filling and the chips were nice and crispy.Highly recommend and will definitely be going back. ?Nearby activities: Silverdale cove, the fairy steps plus others

I've been before and the food never disappoints ? propper home cooked food. Today we went for Sunday dinner and it was lush. The new manager is so friendly. I went upstairs to have a look at the rooms and they were as lovely as downstairs. Don't forget to bring ur pooch x

A beautiful pub to visit for food and drink! The interior is a lovely countrified setting and the staff are welcoming and attentive. Very dog friendly with water bowl and toys provided. We’ll certainly visit here again and can recommend it.

We go to so many pubs all around the country in our CamperVan and this places is up there with the best… Lovely decor, welcoming staff and the food was amazing even the customers on other tables where complimenting the food to the waiter. 110% be returning ?Food & drinks: 5 star - Top restaurant quality

We stayed here for a long weekend. Positive Food Negative No or very little heating Lots of cobwebs and very dusty Ruined our weekend would not return

We stayed at the Tavern for 2 nights and have had a lovely time. It has a quiet and countyside feel to it, exactly what we wanted. The owner Sam is so friendly and helpful, offering us a lift into Kendal due to limited taxis on Boxing Day! Sam and the staff were so welcoming and offered us guidance on where to visit in the area. We also had food at the pub on our last night having the specials Turkey and leek pie and the beef and ale pie, they were both amazing ? We had the suite which was modern and came with a free standing bath which is an extra bonus! The rooms also come with smart tvs which is great for a rainy day in watching Netflix. Thank you so much to Sam and the team at the Tavern, we’ve had a perfect few nights away.
