Period building going back to 1600s. Limited menu although most is cooked on the premises to a high standard. Staff friendly and attentive. Potions are a tad undersize but still makes for a great dining experience. Wheelchair friendly. Dogs especially welcome

Stopped off for a quick bite to eat. Sadly the wife's meal was cold. Staff were really good apologised but then returned with the same pie. Would have expected a fresh one. Never mind I guess won't be going back anytime soon. Shame really as came highly

Only stayed one night and would have liked more. The staff were very welcoming and accommodating, some of the best I've encountered. Made sure we got a table for dinner even though the kitchen was due to close.and were cheerful throughout. The place is very tastefully decorated and is a charming old pub. The food is really good and priced about right as well. The room was smallish but big enough for two people, bed was comfy and the view out of the window was over the churchyard all very nice indeed. Couple of minor downers. The shower dripped a bit and had a bit of mould in it.. They also broke the cardinal rule of the full English. The dreaded single sausage, however the breakfast can include porridge as well so its not that bad..Only other downside is likely to only be an issue for bikers no secure car park. But it doesn't strike me as a high crime area. I would go and stay there again in a heartbeat.Rooms: The room wasn't massive, but I was only sleeping and watching TV, so no real floorspace required. Nicely decorated with some old furniture in keeping with the building. Shower could have been a bit hotter. You can hear the church bells, but it's not intrusive, and they provide ear plugs . They also provided tea and coffee making kit. So very good all roundFood & drinks: I recommend the double diner burger for an evening meal. The breakfast is ordered the evening before, and the porridge was very good, slightly reminiscent of rice pudding, which is no bad thing, possibly a bit stingy with the beans. If it was just the cooked breakfast, I'd say it was too small, but with the other options included with our room it was more than ample I have a huge appetite and it's 5pm now and I haven't eaten since breakfast at the Wheatsheaf.

We had a family Wedding to attend. We thought we would book a couple of extra days in this lovely old pub. It's in a really pretty old village. The service was excellent and friendly from all members of staff. We had a lovely breakfast every morning. High quality produce. It's fair to say that people like the pub food as it was always busy. We had a delicious meal on the Friday night and it was packed out. You definitely need to book before hand. Big shout out to Brandon who looked after us the whole time we were there. He honestly never stopped. He gave excellent friendly service whilst being an absolute grafter. Thanks. We'll hopefully come back in the future.

The food was absolutely delicious though we had to wait a little bit more to be served in the back corner of the pub. Nevertheless, the range and taste of their food and drinks made up for the wait.

Stopped here on our way home and was really glad we did. Brandon welcomed us with such a friendly smile and asking us about our day. The food was delicious and we were particularly amazed by the value for money of the kids meals. Service was excellent and I really want the recipe for the Dahl with homemade poppadoms! Would thoroughly recommend. A local pub with excellent grub.Food & drinks: Excellent food, good value for money.

Very friendly pub (didn't use the hotel services). Dogs welcomed. Couple of real ales on tap. Can sit outside, across the road and they'll come serve you there. Very handy and much appreciated after a long walk.

The last time I visited here was about 20 years ago and all I could buy to eat was a Mars Bar! Times have changed and now there’s an extensive lunchtime menu including a starter called Frickles which is a steal at £2.95. Both cask ales on sale - Halo and 1822 - were well kept. A terrific country pub in an absolutely stunning location.

Popped in for a toilet stop and a beer today. The place was empty as they were just about to open. But I did notice 2 things with it being empty.1) The decor and lighting is superb.2) The car park was full.I chatted with the bar staff about this and it is because of people walking up to the Fairy Steps. The pub often has to turn people who have booked away because of people doing this. Bang ouy of order! Can't wait to go back for food.

Lovely friendly pub, dog friendly and good selection of drinks. Great for hikers on the fairy steps trail, don't mind muddy boots either. Food menu looked good so going back one evening to try it out.

Room was very small for price, but nice decor & clean. Corridors need a good clean & refurb though, as looked v tired & dated. Service was superb, & meals were v good
