We go to The Bridge about 4 times per year. We are not very extravagant but when we do eat out we want it to be better than I can make at home. Any guest we bring with us all love it too. Every meal we’ve had here has been excellent! My favourites are Twice Baked Cheese Soufflé, The Seafood Linguini, my hubby loves the Fish & Chips (he has this every time he goes, lol) . My son loves the Squid starter and I also love the Pate when it’s on. I had a gorgeous fish course in spring but I forget the name of the fish which was the whitest fish I’ve ever seen. I highly recommend Bridge Bistro.

A fantastic chance stopping, will I am sure lead to more planned visits going forward. Food was superb, service, atmosphere and feel of the place all excellent. Having driven past this place often through its decline (which I now know to be 10years ago plus) this was great to see what a turnaround a place can have with clearly a great team behind it. Will most definitely be calling again and would highly recommend it.

Six of us stopped off here for lunch on route to York from Glasgow. We were greeted by friendly staff who took a drink order and then shrotly after our order for our meal accommodating our fussy little 2 year old with plain pasta as she was a little out of sorts. Just as our meal was being served my little one was sick on the floor, the ladies helped up clean up, gave us a bucket and let us hold onto it incase it was needed on the remainder of our car journey. They took my meal back to the kitchen to keep it warm whilst I went to the loo with my daughter which I thought was very thoughtful. Then when we returned the staff member came to check on my daughter and suggested a little flat coke would maybe help her if she was perhaps car sick and added that it also helped her son in the past. She brought out some cucumber in a little dish as my daughter had mentioned earlier that it was her favourite. The kind attitude of the staff really helped to make what could have been a diar situation much easier to deal with. On top of all that the meal was delish and everyone enjoyed! My little girl perked up during lunch and left with a smile on her face and a flake in hand from the girl who had served us ☺️ Great service and experience! The resturant itself is lovely, beautifully decorated and the toilets are immaculate! Will recommend to others traveling down south and hope to visit again in the future!

Great experience visiting here with my wife and daughter when we were staying at Center Parcs. For mains I had the lamb, my wife the chicken kebab and my daughter a burger. For dessert I had the Eton mess, my wife the cherry bakewell blondie and my daughter the strawberry ice cream. Everything was prepared wonderfully and all very tasty. If we are back in the area we wouldn't hesitate to eat here again.Vegetarian options: There were vegetarian options on the menu.Kid-friendliness: I took my 2 1/2 year old toddler who was excellently cared for with a kids menu (though portions were too big for her) and friendly staff.Parking: Parking on site, approx 20 spaces maybe.

Best Sunday Roast dinner along the A66 Cumbria/North Yorkshire borders! Always delicious, also featuring a wide variety of tasty delicacies. Landlord's are the perfect hosts, portions are large and service excellent.Parking: Behind The Bridge, about 20-25 spaces.

Been twice this week going again on Thursday, staff excellent, food superb, wine list small but excellent.Would highly recommend for anyone wanting a fantastic meal…Plenty of very nasty reviews for this restaurant I noticed, all because people wish to pop in and use the toilet, sorry but it’s a restaurant and if I was enjoying a meal the last thing I would want is a trail of people wandering back and forth to the loo, however, it’s says it’s a cafe & Bistro, cafes are places you can pop into to have a quick coffee and use the loo, so if It where mine I would remove the cafe part of the name and I think this would remove a huge amount of negativity surrounding a fantastic culinary delight…..A great find and very highly recommended.

Terrible, absolutely terribleAbsolutely appalling experience here. Stopped tonight with my son (age 6) who was desperate for the toilet and 3 members of staff completely refused to allow him to use the bathroom despite me saying we’d order food if he could use the loo first. He was literally dancing and holding himself. Apparently it’s “unhygienic”, well guys what is unhygienic is children peeing in your car park and that’s what ended up happening. He was humiliated. Shame on you.We took our business to Cafe Sixty Six a bit further down the road and bought 2 meals. I’m more than happy to buy meals if we have to stop with kids, but The Bridge was an absolute joke. Folks, if you’re travelling on A66 I strongly DO NOT recommend this place. Totally unacceptable to deny anyone, especially a child use of a toilet. The staff were so very rude and were telling me to drive 1 min down the road to the petrol station - clearly not listening when I said I was going to buy dinner, we just really needed to deal with the pressing situation of my son about to wet himself! We travel a66 regularly, I will never ever give these people our custom. Place was practically empty, I can see why!

Lovely atmosphere, staff very helpful and knowledgeable on all things of food allergies. Food was delicious, and well presented, prices are very reasonable. If you get the opportunity I would recommend trying the Bridge for something to eat

Just been for lunch today and what a pleasure it was from start to finish to receive such excellent, professional service. The food was outstanding, the tempura starter was crisp and delicious. Husbands cheese soufflé was to die for. The very helpful lady taking our order recommended the sea bass which I had which was cooked to perfection. The other main was tasty belly pork. Both dishes were of sufficient quantity and served beautifully. To finish off a portion of sticky toffee pudding and. 2nd spoon brought just in case needed. I can’t recommend this restaurant more highly and will definitely be returning with friends.

Absolutely appalling experience here. Stopped tonight with my 6 year old who was absolutely desperate for the toilet and 3 separate members of staff completely refused to allow him to use the bathroom despite me saying we’d order food if he could use the loo first. He was literally dancing and holding himself. Apparently it’s “unhygienic”, well guys what is unhygienic is children peeing in your car park and that’s what ended up happening. He was humiliated. I’m more than happy to buy meals if we have to stop with kids, but The Bridge was an absolute joke. Folks, if you’re travelling on A66 I strongly DO NOT recommend this place. Totally unacceptable to deny a child / anyone use of a toilet. We travel this road regularly and will never, ever give them our custom now.

The attitude they have towards paying customers is pathetic. Like many other people in the reviews we stopped to have a snack a drink and use the toilets, baring in mind we ordered before asking where the toilets are, but me, my wife and two young children were asked to leave! Imagen that being unreasonable! If you want to see what sort of service you will get just have a look at the owners response (and likely what i will receive) to other reviewers that have done exactly what we have. DISGUSTING.

After a long drive we wanted to stretch our legs, grab a cuppa and use a rest room, like we all do when travelling. This looked a quaint place but upon entry we were told they were only serving meals and you couldn't just have coffee. I could understand if it was busy but it was practically empty. Then to really rub it in there were signs everywhere stating that toilets could only be used when meals were purchased. Sorry, but can't see this business model taking off. The young waitress was very abrupt with the word NO to just drinks. People would pop in for drinks one time, see the place and menu then go back for meals another time etc. But that ain't happening here! We quickly left and thoroughly enjoyed roadside services in comparison. Not sure how long this place will be open for with this type of attitude to customers.
