“What a wonderful warm, genuinely friendly welcome from the lovely owners. Have to say I have never had a shepherd’s pie as utterly scrumptious as the one made by the amazing chef Adam. The chips are to die for too. Cosy and comfortable inside, particularly by the open real fire. Lovely vibe from the moment you enter to the moment you leave with a ‘thank you, very much’ as a parting both ways. An absolute gem of a pub.”

“Went yesterday for Sunday lunch. It was very busy as had a function on, but the service was very quick and the roast beef was delicious. My husband is a chef he is difficult to please but he was very impressed. Ice cream was great too. Highly recommend .”

“Great traditional canal side pub with a good selection of real ales. Friendly staff and good food. With annual beer festivals and live entertainment events what more can you ask for locally. Keep up the good work.”

“We only had drinks here, but saw the pies which looked very sumptuous ?. The pub had an excellent choice of spirits, ales etc. the pub is very oldie worldie and comfortable. The customers were very welcoming and pleasant, They have live music on occasion, tasting evenings(the next one is £28 for 6 glasses of exceptional whiskys).”

“Friendly staff and beautiful pub/restaurant. Went here after being disappointed at Pesto at the Peacock. Amazing dessert! I had the toffee banana pudding it was delicious. My uncle had the cheesecake which was also to die for. My aunt had the salted caramel creme brûlée, only criticism is that it was a little bit too salty. Coffees were also delicious, can’t wait to try the mains next time! Thank you!”

“We came for lunch today with a large party, and it did not disappoint! The pub itself is cozy and welcoming, we had a walk over from carsington water and was welcomed with a lovely warm fire. I had the beef feather blade which was delicious, the gravy was out of this world. my partner had the special game pie which he loved. the kids were catered for wonderfully. would return in a heartbeat!”
“Welcoming, friendly and good beer. Didn't eat but saw and heard people there eating saying how big the portions were and how tasty it was.”

“Brilliant proper pub. Serving an unsurpassable array of drinks, including scores of cider from around the country, including their own. Snacks, TV showing sport, and humble quiet beer garden.”
