What a fabulous pub. Called in after reading a review and it looked like the best bet close to the canal. Turns out the review was right. No TV's, no gambling machines, no pool tables, but board games to use on the shelf, a fabulous choice of real ales, good food and most importantly great locals. Excellent ales and brilliant pub grub. The pies were amazing. This is not healthy but just good tasty food done very well. The pastry was short, the pie was a proper pie with crust top and bottom, the meat and potato filling well seasoned, moist and plentiful. Served with mushy peas, chips and oodles of tasty gravy.
