Stayed with friends on a New Year 3 night deal. On arrival reception told us to take our case to room and at 3pm welcome drink and cakes wold be ready. Came down to 2 coach parties not even taken coats off had taken all lower floor seat and tables. We had to go to balcony where the heat was unbearable. Asked if this could be turned down ,never was. We came away after Christmas for a couple of nights and were a bit underwhelmed. Rooms are very compact and the evening meal left a lot to be desired. The tomato soup was barely warm and the meat in the duck dumplings tasted burnt. They'd run out of steak and kidney pudding and the chicken schnitzel was dry and soaked in fat. We've stayed at the Derby Mickleover Hotel a few times before ?The staff are amazing from front desk, restaurant and the room dressersSo friendly and welcomingWe were very lucky and got an upgrade on arrival and the room was fabulously huge, thank youWe will be returning again in March
