Joint birthday dinner for 4 of us and everything was perfect. We didn't tell them it was a birthday party until we arrived but they still went the extra mile and made sure we had a great time, Joe's singing needs work but he tried his best. :-) Great food, great team and an amazing birthday. Thanks Guys.

Kids gave 2* adults gave 3 so meet in the middle at 2.5Arrived randomly and staff accommodated for us. And were friendly enough. The bar and restaurant were empty upon arrival. When it came to food 8yold asked for pasta and was told no, fair enough. Picked chicken gouchons instead.17yrold had fish and chips x2 adults the porkFood took a long time to arrive and each meal was extremely dry..Daughter commented on worst chicken ever tasted.Fish was extremely dry.Pork very well presented but was like a cheap supermarket versionI wouldn't be able to describe the meal as advertised on menu, however I can not claim it was awful. We ordered a drink for daughter but it didn't arrive until after we had finished.Plates were removed from table and conclusion we had finished even while daughter was eating peas.Meal for 4 cost £91 including drinks so was reasonable and we all ate majority.Downstairs bar wAs becoming busy as we left.Staff downstairs were distracted by locals but friendly enough. Was 3 hour drive from home.Needed a cooked meal and that's what we got.Would not return.Nice inside .Was clean and tidy.Kid-friendliness: Accommodating .....yesChild friendly... Visited on Saturday night with family. Really friendly staff and a good selection of beers. The food was excellent and they catered for the two vegan members of our group so we'll I would have been jealous of their food if my meal hadn't looked so great too.Would highly recommend.Vegetarian options: We had 2 vegans in the group and they really enjoyed their meals.

Fabulous!! Such great food and Jo is such an attentive host makes you feel like you are his only customer even when the restaurant was heaving. What a great dining experience.

Fantastic food, wonderful ambience, great service. Possibly the best venison I've ever had, and a really generous portion. The house red was very good and went perfectly with the meal. Would have liked to see something a bit more interesting on the desserts list but still a wonderful evening in a great venue.

The Holt is literally my favourite place on earth. The food is out of this world, the drinks are a plenty and the staff are incredibly accommodating. I had my 40th birthday party at The Holt (30 people), the service was seamless and we were very well looked after. Highly recommended.

Not sure what all the hype is. We ended up here on Tapas night...vegetarian selection was grilled potatoes with cheese sauce, chips and 3 stuffed jalapeños. Looks like a nice building but sat right in the window, so had my jacket on the whole meal. Lots of rowdiness upstairs, where we were. Might try again for a different menu but no time soon. The waitress was super lovely and engaging.

First time visiting The Holt with family this week and it did not disappoint! Hidden away at the bottom of town, this is a hidden gem that looks small on the outside but is actually a lovely and spacious place for a meal. The bar downstairs has a good range of beer, cider, wine and other drinks with a few spots to sit down and enjoy a drink with friends, with lots of interesting personality and decor.Upstairs the restaurant is a rustic yet stylish spot with lovely artwork on the walls and a great selection of food on offer (a small selection for vegans but delicious!). Food isn't necessarily the cheapest but as a small, family run business I'd rather pay a little more for the quality. The staff were all welcoming and smiling, despite the business just days before Christmas. A really wonderful experience and I can't wait to come back!
