Stopped in here today to try the Sunday roast. OMG, I’m so glad I did. Happy staff who engaged and enlightened. A bargain of a lamb roast with all the trimmings. Well presented and cooked as fresh as possible. Not rushed or hurried at all. I never heard another customer moan or criticise in any way, everything was positive from start to finish.Smaller portions were available at a reduced rate, but I went all in for the big boy portion. We visited to watch the Rugby match on Saturday and was recommended here as it is dog friendly. On entering the pub the locals made us welcome by moving and giving us a table, even without asking. Throughout our visit the locals made us welcome, so what great customers this pub has! The bar staff were friendly and polite and the drinks were great value too. Honest food at affordable prices. An older market town pub with friendly welcome (for dogs too!) and what looks like an old skittle alley at the back, now with pool table. Food is proper pub grub (sausage, chips and beans, ham egg & chips etc) but great value. Homemade curries for £5! This would be a great place to feed the kids.
