Great find - a proper pub! Really affable landlord, good beer kept well (Teignworthy Reel Ale and Avocet from Exeter Brewery) and good food at a price rather lower than we're used to in Hampshire! Friendly serving staff too. All four of us really enjoyed both starters and mains (and puds for the girls!). I wasn't expecting the peppered squid starter to be anything special, but it was nicely cooked, and a lot more succulent and tasty than the normal 'battered rings' that most places...read full review

Best pub in Devon. Favourite for excellent home cooked food, good proper ales and wine, and local craic. All served with a smile (and by modern standards, a modest bill). Full marks to Burt and Claire. Proper!
